Two other bills to fight...please help
Beside S. 1348 (the Grand Compromise), there are two other bills in the House of Representatives that cannot, and hopefully, shall not pass.
The first is H.R.1645: STRIVE Act of 2007. It's sponsors are listed below:
Mr. GUTIERREZ (for himself, Mr. FLAKE, Mr. BACA, Mr. LINCOLN DIAZ-BALART of Florida, Mr. EMANUEL, Mr. RADANOVICH, Ms. JACKSON-LEE of Texas, Mr. LAHOOD, Mr. CROWLEY, Mr. MARIO DIAZ-BALART of Florida, Ms. GIFFORDS, Ms. ROS-LEHTINEN, Ms. SCHAKOWSKY, Mr. FORTUN.AE6O, Mr. BECERRA, Mr. CARDOZA, Mr. CUELLAR, Mr. GONZALEZ, Mr. GRIJALVA, Mr. HINOJOSA, Mrs. NAPOLITANO, Mr. ORTIZ, Mr. PASTOR, Mr. REYES, Mr. RODRIGUEZ, Ms. ROYBAL-ALLARD, Mr. SALAZAR, Mr. SERRANO, Mr. SIRES, and Ms. SOLIS)
There is a forum on this bill established by jceg 97030 that aptly describes this dangerous bill, but, in short it is attempting to establish many of the same things that the Senate's Grand Compromise tried. Keep your eye out on this because they might try to slip this one in as attention is focused on the Senate bill. This bill was referred to the house committee on 3/22/07 so it is lying in wait, possibly dependent on what happens in the Senate. Or it may have legs of its own regardless of what the Senate does. BE AWARE and dont' let your guard down.
Second, H.R.1999 Title: To authorize appropriations for assistance for the National Council of La Raza and the Raza Development Fund.
There has been other individuals who have posted in the ALIPAC Discusion Forum on this but it was awhile ago and I don't want to see this slip into lost attention. This bill gives government funding (our tax dollars) to LaRaza, if you can believe it! It gives away 5 million $dollars in fiscal year 2008 and 10 million $dollars every year therafter!!! And to top it of, there is NO EXPIRATION DATE!!! The bill's sponsors are:
Ruben Hinojosa - TX
Barney Frank - MA
Rick Renzi - AZ
Ed Pastor - AZ
Silvestre Reyes - TX
The full text of this bill is listed below:
H.R.1999
Title: To authorize appropriations for assistance for the National Council of La Raza and the Raza Development Fund.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
April 23, 2007
Mr. HINOJOSA-TX (for himself and Mr. RENZI-AZ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Financial Services. Co-Sponsers: Mr. FRANK – MA; Mr. PASTOR – AZ; Mr. REYES - TX
A BILL
To authorize appropriations for assistance for the National Council of La Raza and the Raza Development Fund.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Hope Fund Act of 2007'.
SEC. 2. ASSISTANCE FOR NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LA RAZA AND RAZA DEVELOPMENT FUND.
(a) Use- The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall, to the extent amounts are made available pursuant to subsection (b), make a grant to the National Council of La Raza for the purpose of providing technical and financial assistance to local non-profit organizations to undertake community development and affordable housing projects and programs serving low- and moderate-income households, particularly through organizations located in neighborhoods with substantial populations of income-disadvantaged households of Hispanic origin. Assistance provided by the Secretary under this section may be used by the National Council of La Raza or the Raza Development Fund to--
(1) provide technical and financial assistance for site acquisition and development, construction financing, and short- and long-term financing for housing, community facilities, and economic development;
(2) leverage capital from private entities, including private financial institutions, insurance companies, and private philanthropic organizations;
(3) provide technical assistance, training, support, and advice to develop the management, financial, and administrative capabilities of housing development organizations serving low-income households, including Hispanic households; and
(4) conduct such other activities as may be determined by the Secretary and the National Council of La Raza.
(b) Authorization of Appropriations- There is authorized to be appropriated for grants under this section--
(1) $5,000,000 for fiscal year 2008; and
(2) $10,000,000 for each fiscal year thereafter.
As we all know, La Raza is a ethnocentric racist group that lobbies Congress incessantly for Hispanic causes. No ethnocentric racist group advocating for any race or origin should ever see a dollar from Congress (again, our tax money). This bill is already in the House Committee on Financial Services, so time may be short to shoot it down.
Please contact your representative in the House and politely request or angrily demand (your choice) that these bills be defeated.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought someone said this was also in the Grand Compromise. Anyway, I intend to fight this crap.
Can anyone get some data on what LaRaza been funding, like aid tools to illegals, etc. This is beneficial to our fight against this deal. We need some leverage.RIP TinybobIdaho -- May God smile upon you in his domain forevermore.

Thanks for this critical info. It's astounding what our government is trying to do to the legal citizens of this country. IMO, this is tantamount to giving our tax dollars to the KKK.
