Bill introduced to prevent NM National Guard participating in Trump's deportations

Santa Fe, NM – Rep. Bill McCamley (D-Mesilla Park) has introduced HB 560 to prevent the New Mexico National Guard from performing federal immigration operations or from using their resources and funding for federal immigration operations.

"In New Mexico, we will not order our dedicated National Guard members, many of whom would be asked to deport their neighbors and possibly relatives, to participate in ripping families apart and terrorizing our immigrant communities," said McCamley. "I hope and trust that our Governor would support this legislation that protects New Mexicans from the divisive and hateful policies of the current Presidential administration."

Ducey unaware of plan to use National Guard for deportations

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -Gov. Doug Ducey is not aware of any plans to use the Arizona National Guard for rounding up unauthorized immigrants, a spokesman for the governor's office said Friday.

    The AP reported Friday morning
that the White House is considering a plan to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops in 11 states, including Arizona, to deport immigrants living in the country illegally.

Sean Spicer, a spokesman for President Donald Trump, has since denied the report, saying there is, "no effort at all to round up, to utilize the National Guard to round up illegal immigrants."

But according to an 11-page memo written by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and obtained by the AP, the governors in those states would have the final say on whether or not to use the National Guard as a deportation force.

When asked if the administration had contacted the governor's office about the proposal, Ducey's spokesman, Dan Scarpinato, simply said, "No."

LOL!!! As their US citizens sit there wondering "why not"? Illegal aliens are ripping our country apart, they're ripping my job and wages away, they're ripping my kids seats in college right out from under them.

Why would US citizens of these states or any others NOT WANT the use of "all means necessary, whatever it takes" to both solve and rid our nation of this problem??!!

I can't think of even one valid reason. They have all types of good equipment perfect for this task. They have big trucks that haul a lot of people, they have bases to put the people on until they're processed, they have planes to fly them out of here in big numbers, they have helicopters, they have radios, night goggles, protective gear, they have excellent training in working with civilian populations, that's what they do in the United States.

States use National Guard troops to deal with American protesters and rioters all the time. They used them in Ferguson. We used them during the Civil Rights Movement. We used them in Katrina. We use them all the time with civilian populations. There is no reason on God's Green Earth or one inch of American Soil that we can't use or shouldn't use State National Guards to round up, detain and help expedite the deportation of illegal aliens.

GET SMART AMERICA! LETS GET THIS DONE AND MOVE ON TO FIX OUR COUNTRY!!

I can't stand another year of talking about "what are we gonna do to stop amnesty, to stop DACA, to stop illegal immigration." I want it stopped and all illegal aliens out of here within 2 years and that means starting now using "all means necessary, whatever it takes." There is no threat to our country greater than the illegal alien population residing in the United States. They are the Enemy Within.

GET THEM OUT, GET THEM OUT NOW!!

Sandoval: ‘Cogent’ policy, not National Guard, needed on immigration

    CATHLEEN ALLISON / AP
Gov. Brian Sandoval sits in his office at the Capitol on Friday, April 17, 2015, in Carson City.

    By Chris Kudialis (contact)
    Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 | 1:54 p.m.

Leaked documents suggesting the Trump administration considered using up to 100,000 National Guard troops to round up illegal immigrants across 11 states, including Nevada, were met with criticism by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval today in Las Vegas.

“I don’t think it’s an appropriate use of the Nevada National Guard,” Sandoval said following a three-hour Nevada Commission on Homeland Security meeting.

According to the Associated Press, a draft U.S. Department of Homeland Security memo raised the idea of mobilizing the National Guard to assist with immigration enforcement as far north as Portland and as far east as New Orleans. Governors would have had the final say on whether National Guard troops in their states would participate.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer today called the report “false.”

Sandoval, meanwhile, suggested the administration work with Congress to pass “cogent and consistent” immigration reform.

“The administration and the Congress have to take up immigration reform. We need to have a cogent and consistent policy so all of the people of this nation know what the rules are,” Sandoval said.

“I think at his core, what (Trump) is trying to do is secure the nation, and some folks may disagree with his approach,” the governor said.

La. National Guard not contacted for Trump immigration roundups

    February 17, 2017 9:56 AM in News
    Source: Associated Press
    By: Associated Press

WASHINGTON D.C. - The Department of Homeland Security says it was an idea that was never seriously considered.

Still, staff members say that as recently as last Friday, there was discussion of a proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants.

The idea is outlined in an 11-page draft memo obtained by The Associated Press.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer says it's "not a White House document," and that there was "no effort at all" to use the National Guard in that way. And a Homeland Security official says the document was a very early draft that was never brought to the department's secretary for approval.

The plan outlined in the document called for the unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement as far north as Portland, Oregon, and as far east as New Orleans.

A spokesperson for Governor John Bel Edwards' office says the Trump administration has not contacted the Louisiana National Guard or the Governor's Office regarding the proposal.

According to the memo, governors in the 11 states would have had a choice whether to have their guard troops participate.

Spokespeople for the governors of nine of the states either declined to comment or said it was premature to discuss whether they would participate.

Oklahoma officials haven't been notified of possible National Guard activation

by Silas Allen Published: February 17, 2017 10:43 AM CDT Updated: February 17, 2017 11:30 AM CDT

Officials in Oklahoma haven't been notified about any potential plans to activate National Guard troops for immigration raids.

Lt. Col. Lindy White, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma National Guard, said officials at National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. are aware of the report.

“We have not received any official notification to execute any activations at this time," White said.

Michael McNutt, a spokesman for Gov. Mary Fallin, said the governor also had not been notified about the possibility of any activations.

On Friday, the Associated Press reported that President Donald Trump is considering using 100,000 National Guard troops to conduct immigration raids in several states, including Oklahoma. The report cites an 11-page memo written by U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, a retired four-star Marine general. White House press secretary Sean Spicer denied the report on Twitter, calling it "100% false."

Gov's office concerned over reports Trump considered Guard to round up immigrants

SALT LAKE CITY — Responding to reports that President Donald Trump considered using National Guard troops from Utah to round up undocumented immigrants, Gov. Gary Herbert's office released a statement Friday voicing concern.

An 11-page draft of a memo outlines how National Guard troops would be authorized to perform the same functions as immigration officers, including conducting searches and identifying and arresting any unauthorized immigrants, according to reporting by the Associated Press.

The memo dated Jan. 25 names four border states — California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas — and extends to Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, according to the AP report. The story indicates the memo bears the name of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, a retired four-star Marine general.

Governors in the named states would be given the option of whether their National Guard troops participated in the immigration enforcement effort, according to the draft.

Herbert's office issued a statement responding to the media report Friday.

"Neither the governor’s office nor the Utah National Guard has received any official communication on this matter. While we cannot speculate as to what may be requested via official channels in the future, we have serious constitutional concerns about activating the National Guard to provide the mentioned services and the potential financial impacts of doing so," the statement said.

Lt. Col. Steve Fairbourn, public affairs officer with the Utah National Guard, told the Deseret News that the military unit was aware of news coverage Friday but had received no official word about the draft memo. As such, Fairbourn said it would be inappropriate for the Utah National Guard to comment on the issue.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer called the AP report "100 percent not true" and said the memo was "not a White House document."

The AP also cited an unnamed Department of Homeland Security official, who described the document as a very early draft that was not seriously considered and never brought to the secretary for approval.

LOL!! No one said they had been notified, or consulted or even contacted, JD2. It's a draft memo circulating in DHS to determine whether DHS wants to do this. President thinks it's a good idea and wanted a plan. It's not supposed to be public yet, because it's not policy yet. But clearly in the works and we need a full court press to push this forward as fast as possible, so Trump and DHS know that we're behind this 100%.

Arkansas governor: Roundup would be strain on National Guard

    By - Associated Press - Friday, February 17, 2017

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Gov. Asa Hutchinson says he’s concerned about a draft proposal to use National Guard troops from Arkansas to round up unauthorized immigrants.

The Republican governor said Friday he hasn’t had any contact from the Trump administration about a draft Department of Homeland Security memo obtained by The Associated Press calling for mobilizing as many as 100,000 National Guard troops from Arkansas and 10 other states. A DHS official has described the document as a very early draft that was not seriously considered and never brought to the secretary for approval.

    Hutchinson
said DHS used National Guard partnerships for specific responsibilities along the border when he was an official there, but said he believed this would be too much of a strain on the state’s guard.

All 23,000 California National Guard Soldiers Ordered to Be on Alert for Oroville Dam Emergency

POSTED 7:25 AM, FEBRUARY 13, 2017, BY LOS ANGELES TIMES, UPDATED AT 07:26AM, FEBRUARY 13, 2017

The California National Guard is on standby and ready to assist with the Oroville Dam emergency, Adjutant General David Baldwin said during Sunday night’s press conference.

The California National Guard put out an alert to all 23,000 of its soldiers and airmen telling them to be “ready to go if needed,” Baldwin said. The last time officials sent out such a broad notification was during the 1992 riots in Los Angeles, he said.

The California National Guard would deploy eight helicopters to assist with spillway reconstruction; military police would also be deployed to Yuba County, Baldwin said.
