Minority infants now in majority, U.S. census data show
The latest estimates reflect an immigration wave that began four decades ago. The transformation of the country's racial and ethnic makeup has gathered steam as the white population grows older.
By Carol Morello
The Washington Post
WASHINGTON — For the first time in U.S. history, most of the nation's babies are members of minority groups, according to new census figures that signal the dawn of an era in which whites no longer will be in the majority.
Population estimates show that 50.4 percent of children younger than 1 last year were Hispanic, black, Asian or other minorities. That's almost a full percentage point higher than the 49.5 percent of minority babies counted when the decennial census was taken in April 2010. Census demographers said the tipping point came three months later, in July.
The latest estimates, which gauge changes since the last census, reflect an immigration wave that began four decades ago. The transformation of the country's racial and ethnic makeup has gathered steam as the white population grows older, especially compared with Hispanics.
The census has forecast that non-Hispanic whites will be outnumbered in the United States by 2042, and social scientists consider that current status among infants a harbinger of the change.
Although minorities make up about 37 percent of the U.S. population, they are in the majority in the District of Columbia, California, Hawaii, New Mexico and Texas.
One of the biggest factors in the change is age. Whites are by far the oldest group. Their median age is over 42, so many are beyond their prime childbearing years.
In contrast, the median age for Hispanics is under 28. Blacks and Asians have median ages in the early 30s.
As the number of white women in their 20s and 30s declined over the past decade, the number of white children dropped in most states, said Kenneth Johnson, a sociologist with the University of New Hampshire.
"The population is literally changing before us, with the youngest replacing the oldest," he said. "This is the first tipping point. The kids are in the vanguard of the change that's coming."
Places that serve Hispanic mothers and children are experiencing a baby boom. Mary's Center, which started in Washington, D.C., in 1988 to provide immigrant women with prenatal care, opened its fifth center Wednesday just outside of the city in Maryland.
"The people who migrate are the young and healthy people," said Maria Gomez, founder of the center. "They are fertile, and that's the cycle of life."

Well, we all know that these minority births aren't mostly nonwhite patriots of the U.S., now don't we?
I feel it is a conspiracy to overthrow the U.S.A.-both a scheme against white people themselves (as a backlash against past generations' crimes against other ethnic groups) and against the U.S. in and of itself (because the Commies and other tyrannical governments of the world want us gone so they can continue world domination through "globalization." )
There are too many whites in both the U.S. and Europe who have decided not to have at least two children because having children is "too much work" and they would rather have more material "stuff" in the place of the expense of having children. If whites want to see themselves not face a horrible future of extermination (do not think for a minute that the radical racist type of latino is going to sit and wait until we die off naturally if we become outnumbered-they will come after us with weapons to get rid of us faster), I strongly suggest that we had better stop trading having children for more "stuff"-and three children per family is not such a horrible number. And the U.S. can also benefit from births rising in any family (regardless of race) who are patriotic and will stand with us.
It concerns me that seemingly mostly only whites in white supremecist organizations seem to be alert to what's going on-most of the good whites are fast asleep and unaware of what is truly going on in this country.

Births of minority babies on the rise
Reported by: Cristina Rendon
WASHINGTON, D.C. (ABC 4 News) – The U.S. Census Bureau released a set of estimates Thursday showing 50.4 percent of our nation's population younger than age one were minorities as of July 1, 2011.
This is up from 49.5 percent from the 2010 Census taken April 1, 2010. A minority is anyone who is not single-race white and not Hispanic.
The population younger than age 5 was 49.7 percent minority in 2011, up from 49.0 percent in 2010. A population greater than 50 percent minority is considered “majority-minority.”
“We had seen this trend heading in that direction over the last decade,” Alexa Jones-Puthoff, with the U.S. Census Bureau said.
In 2010, minority babies made up about 22 percent of births. Hispanics are the state’s fastest growing population.
“This is a watershed moment for our country and for the Latino community,” Liany Arroy, with La Raza, said.
The nation’s diversity has big implications on education, economics and politics.
“For the Latino community, if there is power in numbers as we always say, then we know our population is growing and we have an opportunity to turn that in to political and civil power as these children age,” Arroyo added.Last edited by sacredrage; 05-19-2012 at 01:50 PM.

This whole demographic takeover via illegal immigration and anchor babies reeks of racism. These same Hispanics are such hypocrites calling whites and other non-hispanic Americans racists for wanting our immigration laws enforced. Why don't they look in the mirror and examine their own heads and hearts? The "R" label belongs with them.

Illegal immigrants and some Hispanics whose families have been in the United States for several generations are some of the biggest racists ever. They join racist organizations like NCLR, MECHA, and LULAC. A lot of these illegals will raise their anchor babies to be little brown supremacists.
As an American Hispanic, I'm disgusted each time I see Spanish speaking families out in public with infants and toddlers. These people are the threat to America. Those anchor babies will get more resources than the children U.S. citizens and legal immigrants. Illegal immigrants and their spawn have tarnished the word Hispanic. All Americans of different races and ethnicities will suffer because of illegals and their children.

I believe this is a relevant article:
Why Your Kid is Now 25% More Expensive
As the parent of an only child, I get a lot of "suggestions" from family, friends and even strangers to have another kid. I've heard it all:
"He needs sisters and brothers."
"He will always be lonely."
"You need a daughter to care for you when you're older."
Still, no matter how much convincing they try to do, the decision to stick to only one child (or at least wait a while) stands.
The reason: Kids are expensive!
Although he's only in first grade, my son, Darren, has already cost us quite a bit of dough. There's medical insurance and co-pays, food, clothing, school supplies, field trips, his allowance and (the insanely high-priced) video games and entertainment. It seems the older he gets, the more he wants and needs--and the bigger the number on his kid "price tag."
I'm worried that by the time he turns seven, his dad and I will both have to take on additional jobs just to handle the expenses. And new research shows it's not just us--it's the new reality of having kids.
What Does It Cost to Raise a Kid, Anyway?
The cost of raising a kid from birth to 17 rose a whopping 25% in the past decade, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. In its most recent report, for a child born in 2010, a middle-income, two-parent family can expect to shell out almost $227,000 for the necessities needed to raise that child (not including the cost of the pregnancy, childbirth or college).
Factor in inflation and those parents are looking at a grand total of around $287,000.
Of course, housing, transportation, clothing, childcare and other miscellaneous expenses contribute to the large bill, but two major expenses associated with raising a child have climbed significantly.
Hint: They're in your refrigerator and the medicine cabinet.
What We're Spending the Most On
In 2000, the grocery bill for raising a child to age 17 was a little under $24,000. In 2010, it had skyrocketed to more than $36,000.
To keep that same child healthy until age 17, in 2000 the fee was almost $9,000. By 2010, parents could expect to cough up double that amount, more than $18,000. (In fact, recent data shows that annual premiums alone for typical family health coverage rose 9% in 2011 to $15,073. We talked more about the rising cost of health care, and what you can do about it, here.)
As for your grocery bill, "the price of staple foods has been steadily rising, particularly because of global warming, and it impacts everything we consume on a daily basis," says Stephany Kirkpatrick, CFP®, LearnVest's Director of Financial Planning. "Rather than officially raising prices, companies tend to make smaller packaging. So what was a 24-ounce package is smaller, and we go through it faster."
While there's not much we can do about rising prices or shrinking package sizes, what we can do is become more conscious consumers. "As moms are working to balance work and parenting, we often find ourselves buying pre-chopped vegetables or the ready-made chicken dinners at the store, because we're looking for convenience, instead of sticking to a plan," says Kirkpatrick. "What will make the biggest difference is coming up with a budget, and sticking to it."
Now Take a Breath ...
Although the news may sound bleak, having a child doesn't have to be financially crippling. "If you're reading this now and pregnant, or you just had a baby, don't panic!" she adds. "And if you're reading this and have grown kids, don't panic either! Take a step back, and think about the smart things your own parents did to make it work when you were growing up. Cook dinner and eat leftovers the next day. Use coupons! It might be old-fashioned, but they're there for a reason."

They hate us because we have created a great country and they couldn't do that. They hate us because we have money due to working hard, an ethic that is disappearing partially due to them. They will over-populate this country and use their numbers to make us suffer for nothing bad we have done. And the country will go down the tubes just like their countries did. Because they don't know anything about making a great country.

They will hate us in the future. When we are gone and our kids inherit what we have our kids will have more than theirs because we were responsible in our family planning and our futures. That is if they haven't sucked everyone in the country dry by then. Their kids will have little to nothing because they overbred. Watch the green eyes of envy with their tired old sob stories of entitlement and demanding come out again then.

The only way that the U.S. to survive a massive rapid demographic change is if the vast majority (at worst) take on our culture, values and language, and if they are loyal to the U.S. before any other nation. Unfortunately that's not was has been happening.
