With up to 20 million illegal aliens, and growing daily, in this country doing jobs that Americans will not do, why do we need a comprehensive immigration reform bill that allows more immigrants into this country to do jobs Americans will not do? Mr. Bush said this in his speech this morning.
What are those jobs that immigrants are doing that Americans will not do? Are Americans working at all?
The workers that replaced the illegals , who lost their jobs because they were working with stolen and fraudulent documents at the Swift meat packing company, are doing those jobs at higher wages than the illegals were being paid. Are these the jobs that Americans would not do?

Makes not one bit of sense to me. American citizens were displaced and can easily replace any amount of immigrants especially illegal ones. Maybe they want a huge amount of "new" immigrants to either teach us how to survive in a 3rd world country or "cull" the masses from all the divisions.

Follow the money, literally. I have explained this before, but the primary impetus is monetary. The national debt ceiling is predicated on registered assets because we have a debt currency system rather than a positive value currency system. In order to increase the debt ceiling by some $4 trillion following 9/11, the federal entity had to register more chattel as the economy was experiencing minimal growth in the immediate aftermath and therefore could not support a greater debt burden. The only avenue for obtaining more credit was registering more chattel. After generations of convincing Americans to have less children, there was no chance that we were going to produce enough new Americans to represent the necessary increase in registered assets. That being the case, the easiest route was to allow illegal immigrants to flood the country and obtain ITINs. That has worked to some extent, and the availability of federally backed mortgages for non-citizens has slightly increased the number of illegals who obtain ITINs, but most illegals still prefer to fly under the radar and not actually obtain tax IDs/ federal franchise numbers. That's why the push for amnesty is on. The hope is that making the illegals "legal" and removing the fear of incarceration or deportation will result in higher registration numbers. Nevermind that such a move would represent a time bomb, as these registered chattel will ultimately create a need for far more debt than their numbers can secure.

Crocket is right. Its all about money and power. It is a saying practically as old as time itself, but it remains true. Greedy elites don't care about "intangibles" such as patriotism. If they can't put a dollar value to it and how they can gain from it, its either a useless idea or not worth trying. Greedy elites only care about money and power, and in their eyes, there is no such thing as "enough money".

I can think of a few reasons:

Votes from legal immigrants that agree with illegal immigration.

Being politically correct for the time been

The population of some ethnic groups in America is declining and they wish to maintain their tax revenues. This could explain why they are laxed towards illegal immigration and grant amnesty after amnesty that allows illegals to stay in America.

Like you say...work from illegal immigrants appears to be cheaper and some interest groups look the other way.
