    Why an immigration defense matters

The more immigrants the West takes from Muslim lands, the greater the prospect of jihadi war

    By Robert W. Merry - - Sunday, March 27, 2016

In the wake of the Islamist terrorist bombings in Brussels, we learn a number of things of high significance. We learn, from an Associated Press dispatch, that the Islamic State, or ISIS, has sent some 400 trained terrorists into Europe with the wave of refugees flooding into the Continent. We learn that Belgium lacks the law enforcement and security services needed to monitor the current level of terrorist activity in the country. We learn that certain Brussels districts, notably Molenbeek and Schaerbeek, have Muslim populations that are sufficiently large (approaching 50 percent in Molenbeek) and culturally coalesced to harbor dangerous terrorists and shield them from government security forces. We learn that some 5,000 Western European Muslims have traveled to the Middle East to connect with ISIS, and that many of these (including many European citizens) are filtering back with the know-how and intent to kill Europeans.

What does all this add up to? It adds up to the reality that Europe's problem with Muslims is first and foremost an immigration problem. Europe has allowed into its midst too many Muslims on the theory that they will be assimilated into the prevailing Western culture. Many have assimilated just fine, but large numbers have not and will not. The gap in religious thinking and cultural sensibility is just too large. The historical hostility between Islam and the West is just too intense and goes back too far.

No one is supposed to say such things. Until recently — before the terrorist attacks in Paris, Brussels and San Bernardino, as well as Donald Trump's devil-may-care assault on political correctness — many people felt inhibited from suggesting as much by the prospect of ferocious counterattacks with such bludgeon terms as "xenophobe" and "racist.''

The view of the Western globalist elites, with their push for mass immigration, goes something like this: Western civic values and cultural sensibilities are superior to those of the rest of the world, and people from the rest of the world want to come here to share in those values. Hence over time the result will be successful assimilation into a homogenized culture. It will all work out just fine.

The late Samuel Huntington of Harvard punctured that view with brutal realism when he said, "Some Westerners have argued that the West does not have problems with Islam but only with violent Islamist extremists. Fourteen hundred years of history demonstrate otherwise." He elaborated by saying the underlying problem for the West is not Islamic fundamentalism but rather Islam itself, "a different civilization whose people are convinced of the superiority of their culture and are obsessed with the inferiority of their power.'' The problem for Islam, conversely, is not the CIA or U.S. military but rather the West, "a different civilization whose people are convinced of the universality of their culture'' and thus assume an "obligation to extend that culture throughout the world."

Mr. Trump took a plenty of heat when he said there is a lot of hatred toward the West within Islam. He wasn't supposed to say that; instead he was supposed to carefully isolate out Islamist terrorism as a special phenomenon that has nothing to do with the broader civilization of Islam. But Mr. Trump's characterization didn't seem to have much impact on his political standing, based on polls and subsequent primary results. Why?

Perhaps it's because many ordinary Americans know that that is true, irrespective of what the elites want them to believe. Leslie Gelb, one of the leading foreign policy thinkers of his generation, said recently in an interview with The National Interest that the rise in "anti-Muslim nationalism'' results in large measure from deeply held concerns about the growing refugee problem. "It's frightening," he said. "And it's frightening because they seem to be angrier than other groups that Europe and America has absorbed. And there's uncertainty and fear about where this anger will turn."

And why wouldn't they be angry, given the West's intrusive meddling in the lands of Islam over many generations?

There is much tough talk among this year's presidential candidates about "destroying ISIS," defeating the caliphate at the source. This isn't going to happen because this is a civilizational clash — and civilizational clashes, as Huntington pointed out so lucidly at the dawn of the post-Cold War era, are the most difficult to adjudicate or settle. The issues involved are too emotional, too grounded in cultural identity. Certainly ISIS can be contained, and must be. But the cultural sensibilities that fuel ISIS aren't going away and will spawn similar movements in hospitable venues in the Middle East and North Africa.

That's why the first line of defense should be an immigration defense. The more immigration the West gets from Muslim lands, the greater the prospect for jihadi cells to emerge; the greater the prospect for population enclaves that quietly abet and succor terrorist activity; the greater the likelihood that the numbers will challenge or even overwhelm the capacity of a nation's security forces, as they have in Belgium.

It's all about the numbers. In Europe, the numbers pose a fearsome challenge, as Mr. Gelb points out. In America, less so — but the numbers are moving in the direction of the European experience. The policy should be slow, steady absorption and assimilation, not the kind of mass immigration that is destroying Britain and challenging the European Continent. That's the lesson of Paris, San Bernardino and Brussels.

    THE HIJRAH INTO EUROPE
    “Refugees” colonize a continent.
    September 4, 2015 Robert Spencer

Approximately 104,460 asylum seekers arrived in Germany during the month of August, setting a new record. That makes 413,535 registered refugees and migrants coming to Germany in 2015 so far. The country expects a total of around 800,000 people to seek asylum in Germany this year. And that’s just Germany. The entire continent of Europe is being inundated with refugees at a rate unprecedented in world history. This is no longer just a “refugee crisis.” This is a hijrah.

Hijrah, or jihad by emigration, is, according to Islamic tradition, the migration or journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Yathrib, later renamed by him to Medina, in the year 622 CE. It was after the hijrah that Muhammad for the first time became not just a preacher of religious ideas, but a political and military leader. That was what occasioned his new “revelations” exhorting his followers to commit violence against unbelievers. Significantly, the Islamic calendar counts the hijrah, not Muhammad’s birth or the occasion of his first “revelation,” as the beginning of Islam, implying that Islam is not fully itself without a political and military component.

To emigrate in the cause of Allah – that is, to move to a new land in order to bring Islam there, is considered in Islam to be a highly meritorious act. “And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many locations and abundance,” says the Qur’an. “And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.” (4:100) The exalted status of such emigrants led a British jihad group that won notoriety (and a shutdown by the government) a few years ago for celebrating 9/11 to call itself Al-Muhajiroun: The Emigrants.

And now a hijrah of a much greater magnitude is upon us. Evidence that this is a hijrah, not simply a humanitarian crisis, came last February, but was little noted at the time and almost immediately forgotten. The Islamic State published a document entitled, “Libya: The Strategic Gateway for the Islamic State.” Gateway into Europe, that is: the document exhorted Muslims to go to Libya and cross from there as refugees into Europe. This document tells would-be jihadis that weapons from Gaddafi’s arsenal are plentiful and easy to obtain in Libya – and that the country “has a long coast and looks upon the southern Crusader states, which can be reached with ease by even a rudimentary boat.”

The Islamic State did not have in mind just a few jihadis crossing from Libya: it also emerged last February that the jihadis planned to flood Europe with as many as 500,000 refugees. Now the number is shooting well beyond that in Germany alone. Of course, not all of these refugees are Islamic jihadis. Not all are even Muslims, although most are. However, no effort whatsoever is being made to determine the refugees’ adherence to Sharia and desire to bring it to their new land. Any such effort would be “Islamophobic.” Yet there are already hints that the Islamic State is putting its plan into effect: jihadis have already been found among the refugees trying to enter Europe. There will be many more such discoveries.

Eight hundred thousand Muslim refugees in one year alone. This will transform Germany, and Europe, forever, overtaxing the welfare economies of its wealthiest nations and altering the cultural landscape beyond recognition. Yet the serious public discussion that needs to be had about this crisis is shouted down by the usual nonsense: the Washington Post Wednesday published an inflammatory and irresponsible piece likening those concerned about this massive Muslim influx into Europe to 1930s Nazis ready to incinerate Jews by the millions. Hollywood star Emma Thompson accused British authorities of racism for not taking in more refugees – as if British authorities haven’t already done enough to destroy their nation.

And so it goes. If you don’t accept the brave new world that is sure to bring more jihad and more Sharia to Europe, you’re a Nazi and a racist. Meanwhile, no one is bothering even to ask, much less answer, one central question: why is it incumbent upon Europe have to absorb all these refugees? Why not Saudi Arabia or the other Muslim countries that are oil-rich and have plenty of space? The answer is unspoken because non-Muslim authorities refuse to believe it and Muslims don’t want it stated or known: these refugees have to go to Europe because this is a hijrah.

This is also Europe’s death knell.

LESSON LEARNED: After Brussels Attack, Poland Makes Huge Refugee Announcement

Just one day after the terrible Islamic State group-claimed bombing attacks in Brussels, Belgium, Poland has declared that they will no longer take part in a European Union agreement to shelter a number of Muslim migrants and refugees. The announcement came from new Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, whose new conservative-leaning government, which took office following October elections, has clashed with the EU repeatedly regarding its dangerous policies regarding admitting migrants and refugees, according to Bloomberg.

The previous government had agreed to take in at least 160,000 of the mostly Middle Eastern or North African migrants and refugees, but the new government now claims that continuing to do so could prove to be too dangerous.

“I will be very clear: at the moment, I don’t see a possibility for migrants to come to Poland,” Szydlo told Polish station Superstacja TV on Wednesday.

Her comment was later echoed by spokesman Rafal Bochenek, who told reporters that the government “can’t allow for events in western Europe to happen in Poland.”
While liberals may decry what Poland has announced as heartless and cruel to the Muslim migrants and refugees, it was in line with what the people of Poland want and showed that the government was not completely beholden to the progressive multiculturalism suicide pact that has turned western and northern Europe into hotbeds of jihadism.

A survey in January showed that fully 53 percent of the Polish people were opposed to accepting any migrants or refugees into the country. About 41 percent of the Poles were open to providing temporary shelter for some refugees, while only 4 percent thought the migrants should be permitted to settle permanently in the country.

The government of Poland, along with some neighboring countries, has watched what has happened in other European nations that have opened their borders and fostered a culture that is antithetical to their own, and they want nothing to do with it.

Hopefully other European nations will reach the same conclusion and take steps to reverse course before the entire continent is subjugated and Islamicized.

Poland has said “no more” when it comes to accepting and sheltering Muslim migrants and refugees.

Every nation including America needs a 10 to 20 Year Moratorium on Immigration. This massive flow of people across the lines of sovereign states makes no sense at all, there is no benefit to the host country, no positive legitimate reason for this massive movement. None. So the fact that it is being encouraged and manipulated by the US, the EU, and other "institutions", is very troubling. There is some underlying unreported secret purpose behind it.

Every country needs to stop it now. And I mean: NOW.

Something sinister, evil and dangerous for all is afoot.
