On Wednesday night, Rep. Joe Wilson [R, SC-2], shouted "You lie!" at President Obama when he said that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal immigrants. "The supporters of the government takeover of healthcare and liberals who want to give healthcare to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan," Wilson said the next day in a campaign fundraising video.

However, in 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants' healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250 million annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

I don't trust the Huffington post. She is trying to diminsh what Re.Wilson said about Obama lying.

It's true that Wilson voted for federal reimbursement to hospitals and doctors for emergency to illegal aliens in the states. But most Republicans voted for that provision because hospitals especially trauma centers were going broke treating illegal aliens which federal law required they provide.

But it only covers emergency care. The cries for help from the states like California who had 70 or 80 trauma centers close up because they couldn't afford to stay open and treat all the illegal aliens led to this provision in the 2003 MediCare bill.

The libs are trying to create hypocrecy were there isn't any.
If Rep. Wilson would have any say, he would eliminate the free emergency health care to illegal aliens. Since he can't do anything about that, he wants the federal government to pay states for illegal aliens and expose the true cost.

This is why it's so important to always.....always, always........A) Consider the source, and B) Look into everything yourself.

The rabid libs are infamous for only putting out half the story, half the truth,.......and always the half which is guaranteed to cause an uproar and outrage against their target because they understand that most people will react instead of research.

The best way to deal with them is to do your research and then make sure the whole story gets out there. They don't like it of course, but that's just too damned bad, now isn't it?
