    NEWSPAPER RUNS MOST OFFENSIVE HEADLINE AGAINST UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS EVER

    The Santa Barbara News-Press has come under fire for a headline that uses the controversial term "illegals."

    The headline, which reads "Illegals line up for driver's licenses", stands atop a picture of a group of people waiting in line at the DMV following the passage of Assembly Bill 60, a California law which allows motorists to receive a driver's licenses without proving their legal residence. In addition to using an outdated and dehumanizing phrase, the newspaper also manages to imply that everyone in the picture is an "illegal."

    It is also offensive that it was necessary to be a story. Had laws been enforced the past 29 years it would not have been even necessary to consider giving them licenses.
