OFIR and the Mexican Consulate Protest
Went to this protest, it was our first one!!
There was a decent sized group by the time we arrived. According to Jim Ludwick (founder of OFIR) there was about 100.
With many signs and American flags, there was a good amount of support from people driving by, in fact, a nice lady in Islamic headress drove by, honked and put her thumb up at us, she also smiled!! Now that right there is a big time moral boost, coming from a likely legal immigrant herself.
I met and spoke with a guy who happened by, and stopped to be involved. He apparently lived downtown. He and I chatted about why each decided to be involved in this. He told me that his own great-grandmother had immigrated here legally from Mexico, he was very angered by the illegals marching in our cities with Mexican flags, demanding citizens rights. I steered him towards our site and others. I hope he joins us.
One of the regular activists, name is Daniel, was there. I had emailed him once and read his blog. He has a charming way of talking with the illegal aliens as they stand in line to get their Matricula Consula cards. He also was taking photo ops in the window of the Mexican Consulate, they closed the shades on him, but each time they peeked out, he snapped pictures!!
Three of our major stations were there covering this, probably will not be a huge spot, but one of the stations went inside the consulate. I am anxious to see the kind of questions asked. Wonder if they asked why they were giving ID cards to their own people who should not be here anyways?
There were the ALIPAC fliers being handed out to passersby. Many accepted.
My husband commented that this was not a very big group, but I told him that they have been at this for a while and their constant following and protesting of the "Carousels of Information" that the Mexican Consulate and the State of Oregon put on, has resulted in a lot of public attention to thism and the governor had called off all state agencies and employees from these. Now only the Bureau of Labor is present, they are federal and do not have to answer to the governor.
So this to remember, it does not take thousands at a time, unlike the illegal aliens and their demands, all it takes if for even just one hundred Americans, just be persistant and be a thorn in our governments side till they do what we, the majority, want."In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned.
