CITY OF CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Agenda Item #12
Vote in support of Costa Mesa Mayor Mansoor
Enforcement of Immigration law
We have another reason to celebrate!
Tonight the brave and courageous CYPRESS city council voted unanimously to support Orange County's sheriff's plan to investigate and deport serious criminals who are found to be illegally in our country, as well as write a proclamation of support for the city of Costa Mesa for their plan to empower their police to enforce immigrations laws.
I attended tonight's council meeting on short notice (that's why they call us Minutemen). There was a handful (15-20) of supporters for enforcing the law and about 7-8 to oppose it. The council performed professionally. The speakers were each given 3 minutes in public communications. All the speakers were articulate and well spoken from both sides, except one who attempted to go off topic and started ranting about President Bush and the war. The professional council refused to hear his rants and one member walked out until the man ended the tantrum.
There were about 15 speakers in favor of enforcing the law and 3 in support of illegal immigrants. Among the speakers were Jim Gilchrist, who spoke about slain LA sheriff deputy David March and how his illegal killer is living free in Mexico with no fear of ever facing charges in the US. Lupe Moreno told an emotional story of how she cares for her family in a torn apart community of Santa Ana, due to the rampant illegal immigration. Other speakers spoke of the law and the US constitution. The message that ran through most of the speakers was that no one had any fear of enforcing the plan of Costa Mesa except those who are serious criminals. The opposing side's speakers spoke of the fear among the illegal community of sweeps and racial profiling.
Prior to the vote each council member voiced their opinion of the plan. One council member told of his Hispanic wife and her family coming to America as Legal residents and how they went through the legal process. Another spoke of how he welcomes anyone to America who wishes to come here Legally. Another spoke of how we must take all steps possible to ensure the safety of all citizens, even if that means we deport those who are hurting the community. The mayor had many questions for the police chief, who answered each and every questions in detail.
The vote came in unanimously, with 4 votes in support of enforcing immigration laws and one council member absent for the evening. As the vote came in a cheer went up through the audience and the council was rewarded with a standing ovation.
This is a HUGE success for those in the fight against illegal immigration. There are now 2 brave cities in California willing to enforce our laws. WE are winning city by city. Will your city be next? That's up to YOU!

Yours in the good fight,
