Law enforcement authorities are searching for an Hispanic male who fled on foot after a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 20/59 Monday morning.

A deputy assigned to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office felony awareness program pulled over the vehicle the man was driving at about 9:30 a.m., near Fosters.

Inside the vehicle were 11 Hispanic males. They were determined to be illegal immigrants, who possibly had been smuggled into the country by the driver, who was described as 5-foot-6 and 200 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts.

Deputies contacted agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who took custody of the 11 occupants of the vehicle. The investigation is under the control of federal authorities and the driver could face felony charges.
