FLORENCE - A Pinal County man wanted for sexual abuse and conduct with a minor has been arrested after being deported from Mexico, authorities said.

Robert Guardiola, 45, was arrested Wednesday at the Los Angeles International Airport after being deported from Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. Guardiola, an American Citizen, was wanted on 11 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and sexual abuse.

Based on a criminal investigation by PCSO, it is alleged that in September 2013, Guardiola was reported to have sexually abused and molested children under the age of fifteen repeatedly during the course of a few years. During the investigation and prior to his indictment, Guardiola fled to Mexico, attempting to avoid prosecution for these charges.

Furthermore, it is believed that while in Mexico, Guardiola may have assumed a different name.
