ASU students rally against law banning in-state tuition for illegal immigrants

TEMPE, Ariz. Arizona State University students are adding their two cents in the immigration debate.

A-S-U student leaders held a rally yesterday. The message _ banning in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is unfair and doesn't tackle the broader immigration issue.

The rally attracted about 25 people to protest Proposition 300, which would ban state-funded financial aid for illegal immigrants and require them to pay nonresident tuition at Arizona's universities.

A-S-U Young Democrats president Joaquin Rios says the initiative does nothing to address immigration, and everything to hurt Arizona kids.

Phoenix Republican and referendum sponsor Senator Dean Martin says the initiative would save millions of dollars by ending the subsidies for illegal immigrants.
