Border Patrol Agents in Tucson Arrest Aggravated Felons
Tucson, AZ

.
Border Patrol agents assigned to the Tucson, Ariz. sector, arrested two illegal aliens, both aggravated felons involving sex crimes. The arrests were made during separate incidents over the weekend north of the city of Nogales and the village of Topowa, Ariz.

On early Friday morning just after midnight, agents in Casa Grande apprehended a 30-year-old Mexican national who turned out to be a convicted sex offender. Aaron Flores-Moreno was convicted and is a registered sex offender out of Virginia.

He was traveling with 10 other individuals, when agents apprehended the group near the village of Topowa on the Tohono O’odham Reservation. Flores-Moreno was arrested by the Norfolk, Va. police in 2006. He was subsequently found guilty of two counts of rape and sentenced to two years of imposed incarceration and an 18-month suspended sentence.

He had been previously registered as a sex offender, leading to his ordered removal from the U.S. on October 31, 2007. Since he is a convicted felon, Flores-Moreno is being held in Border Patrol custody pending prosecution for reentry of an aggravated felon.

On Saturday night at approximately 8 p.m., Nogales agents arrested Rigoberto Jasso-Soto north of Nogales. The 29-year-old Mexican national had a felony conviction in Indiana for sexual battery and criminal confinement and was sentenced to 545 days in prison. Jasso-Soto is being held in Border Patrol custody pending prosecution for reentry of an aggravated felon.
