TUCSON, AZ - Border Patrol agents arrested several suspected criminals over the weekend while on patrol in southern Arizona.

Agents say one of the suspects is a Mexican national, convicted of murder in California.

They also arrested an El Salvadorian man reportedly wanted for murder in Los Angeles.

Fingerprint checks also revealed the El Salvadorian is an active member of the violent Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, according to the report.

Agents say both men were found in the same group.

In a separate incident, agents in the Wilcox area arrested a suspected undocumented immigrant from Mexico.

A record check apparently showed he'd been convicted of aggravated battery and that he is an active member of the MS-13 gang.

Agents with the Tucson Sector say they're seeing an increase in the number of MS-13 gang members trying to enter the U.S. illegally.
