Illegal immigrant gets 11 years on drug charge

An illegal immigrant from Mexico who was living in Chandler and using 16 aliases was sentenced to 11 years in prison on a drug-related charge, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced this week.

Remigio Perez Roman, 41, who had been deported to Mexico a number of times for various criminal offenses, was handed down the 11-year prison sentence in Maricopa County Superior Court for one count of possession and sale of narcotic drugs, according to the county attorney’s office.

Roman, who bragged he would be back in the U.S. if deported again, pleaded guilty to the charge on March 30.

He dealt drugs out of his apartment on South Arizona Avenue and smoked cocaine in front of his infant child, according to a Chandler police arrest report.
