PHOENIX -- Authorities say eight people are in custody after a tip led police to a Phoenix immigrant drop house Tuesday.

Department of Public Safety Officer Robert Bailey said Phoenix Police received a call of two Hispanic men leading another man into a home near 83rd Avenue and Durango Street about 1:30 p.m.

Officers were able to get into the home about 5 p.m. where they found eight men inside. All were taken into custody.

Bailey said all the men are suspected human smugglers and that no victims were found. He said it was possible the victims had already fled from the home.

Inside the home, officers found three handguns and about one or two pounds of cocaine, according to Bailey.

He said it appeared the house had been operating as a drop house for some time; there was no furniture, but there was running water and air conditioning.

Apparently, another suspected human smuggler fell out of the attic and is also in custody.
