    PROGRESO - A getaway gone wrong. Some suspected human smugglers are now in the hospital recovering from a La Joya police chase.

    When you think of a border fence, you may think of something like the one in Progreso. It has tall beams shooting high into the air. In Penitas, it's different. They're much shorter. The real border part of the fence can't be seen until you're right on it.

    In an area riddled with passing Border Patrol, this was the anticipated getaway for two suspected criminals. The suspected smugglers didn't know the tallest obstacle was the other side.
