Border Patrol Arrests Convicted Sex Offender

Indio, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio, Calif. Border Patrol station arrested convicted sexual offender Reynaldo Quiroz-Maya near his residence in Cathedral City, Calif.

Agents encountered Quiroz on Saturday and it was determined that Quiroz was convicted on two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, a sex-related felony, and was sentenced to a six year prison term.

Quiroz, who was lawfully admitted for permanent residence, has been processed for removal as an alien who has been convicted of an aggravated felony at any time after entry into the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
