Border Patrol Rescues Continue in the Summer Heat

Release Date: September 2, 2020

EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Del Rio Sector responded to multiple calls for individuals in distress, rescuing 41 individuals, Aug. 25 to Aug 31.

“With temperatures remaining near 100 degrees, smugglers continue to abandon people on remote ranches with limited access to water,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II.

“Thanks to the dedication and quick response, and heroism of our agents, we continue to save lives.”

Agents across Del Rio Sector responded to numerous reports from fellow law enforcement partners, and several 911 calls, regarding individuals who had become lost while attempting to illegally enter the United States.

Fourteen separate groups became disoriented, without water, but through coordination among our law enforcement partnerships, these groups were located and brought to safety.

In total, 41 people were rescued, including citizens of Mexico, and Honduras.

All subjects were medically evaluated and were processed per CBP guidelines.

To report suspicious activity, call the Del Rio Sector’s toll free number at 1-866-511-8727.
