I really don't think riot gear that is designed to deal with protestors to the Vietnam War or Americans protesting the beating of Rodney King is going to work the same on 10,000 or more illegal aliens trying to invade the United States. I may be wrong, and hope I am, but I don't think so.

Need a back-up plan to that riot gear.

Border patrol is a numbers game.
The more people they CATCH, fingerprint and photograph the more money they get from congress next year.
Sadly, their job is not to prevent people from entering the country, their job is to CATCH people who have entered the country.
What happens to them next is not their job.
That is up to the immigration judges and I.C.E.
The ones that are prevented from entering can't be counted, so they don't count.

If the caravan people RUSH the border or the Port of Entry it's a whole different ball game.
Then everyone's job becomes prevention.

In total, CBP arrested or deemed inadmissible 60,745 people along the Mexico border in October, far more than any other month since Trump took office.

When they gave the Ohio National Guard guns and bullets they shot and killed unarmed American students. That is why some people oppose armed military involvement in law enforcement.
