Paul: Both sides 'destroying the setting' for immigration compromise

    01/14/18 11:03 AM EST

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) in a Sunday show interview argued that both sides of the aisle are “destroying the setting” for an immigration compromise, as the debate continues over President Trump's reported "shithole countries" comment.

During an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Paul argued that lawmakers won’t reach a deal on immigration if individuals continue calling Trump a racist over his reported comment about African nations, Haiti and El Salvador.

“But what I regret is I do want to see an immigration compromise. And you can’t have an immigration compromise if everybody’s out there calling the president a racist,” Paul told host Chuck Todd.

Trump has faced intense scrutiny in recent days after The Washington Post reported that he referred to immigrants from African nations, El Salvador and Haiti as coming from “shithole countries.” Critics have condemned the remark as racist.

Paul’s comments come as lawmakers have yet to reach a deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Trump said last year he would rescind the Obama-era program, but provided Congress with a window to craft a legislative fix.

“But both sides now are destroying the setting in which anything meaningful can happen,” Paul added.

NO DEAL!! We'll deal with the consequences of a government shutdown. We'll wait until after the mid-terms to pass our immigration bills. Lets focus on enforcing immigration laws quickly and quietly using every tool and resource we can find or create without Congress and do the best we can to stop as much as we can until we can get the votes in the Senate to have a real majority that can pass our immigration bills and fund more border security and interior enforcement.

Work on the rest of the agenda that we can pass with budget reconciliation votes or accomplish with regulatory departmental policy changes and lets work our asses off to elect real Republican majorities in 2018.

In the meantime, Trump can shut down this stupid TPS with a simple instruction to DHS or Executive Order. He and Sessions can hopefully end DACA through the Courts which ends it forever regardless of who is in office. BP and ICE are motivated and are revamping their strategies looking for the big targets and large groups.

Trump needs to issue an Executive Order that authorizes state and local law enforcement to enforce US immigration law without fear of reprisal or lawsuits by the federal government for arresting, detaining and reporting illegal aliens. There are so many communities in so many states who want this authority, this acknowledgement of their rights to protect themselves from foreign invasions, that engaging them will make a HUUUGE difference and have enormous impacts on solving this problem. And we don't need Congress to do this. We don't need to submit to an amnesty blackmail to do this. We just need to do it. Send out the Executive Order. State and local LEO are like our stock market. Give them the freedom and they will get the results. Government doesn't solve problems, people do. But government can restrict our freedom to solve our problems, and that is the number one problem right now, so CUT 'EM LOOSE!! Tell them, go find them, arrest them, detain them, and call it in to ICE. Use the E-verify system to verify their status, have that ready when you call it in. You can also get with your local or state judiciary system and work out a procedure for pre-deportation hearings to help ICE and DOJ expedite the final deportation hearings, using a magistrate or clerk of the courts. Let local newspapers cover the results, who employed them, where they live, who they're related to, etc., etc., etc. They'll even put their pictures in the newspaper.

RUN ILLEGALS RUN!!! We're coming!! Your days here are over.
