Have you heard the saying, when California sneezes, the rest of the country catches the flu? Generally what starts in California eventually spreads to the rest of the country. That is, unless a state takes measures to resist it. Unless every state realistically tackles illegal immigration by instituting Comprehensive Immigration ENFORCEMENT, which California has refused to do, this is what you can expect:

As of 2006, California contained greater than 25% of the total illegal alien population within the U.S. Many of these illegals concentrate in Los Angeles. New statistics from the Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $37 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in November 2007 – up $3 million dollars from September. Twenty five percent of the all welfare and food stamps benefits are going directly to the children of illegal aliens. Illegals collected over $20 million in welfare assistance for November 2007 and over $16 million in monthly food stamp allocations for a projected annual cost of $444 million. “This new information shows an alarming increase in the devastating impact Illegal immigration continues to have on Los Angeles County taxpayers,â€

Seems to me I heard somewhere there are approximately 2 million illegals in LA alone. 3 million is way too low.

Well, I'm in shock anyone here is attempting some kind of action. We'll see what happens but with this state legislature I'd be even more shocked if anythiing passes.

I have never understood the argument that immigrations is a federal issue. Aren't all states suppose to follow federal laws? So, to me, all the states are doing are tailoring fed laws to MAKE FEDERAL LAW WORK IN THE LOCAL ARENA. What's so wrong about that? Isn't that what they're suppose to be doing?

It's just like the bank robbery laws. It's the fed's responsibility, but local law enforcement are used because there is only ONE FBI AGENT around.

Hmmm....maybe we can satisfy the OBL's argument by hiring more federal immigration agents in all 50 states. How about that? Would that please them? More ICE everywhere? LOL. What would they say then???

There are 5-8 million in LA County alone! Add another 2-5 million in San Diego County, 2-3 million in my neck of the woods which is Orange County.

Not sure what Northern California looks like but I would imagine we can add 3-5 million for that part of the state under the assupmtion its similiar to Southern California.

There are probably between 12-15 million illegals in California alone easily!

I think there's a chance for these to pass considering how many US citizens are going to be out of work due to budget cuts from the bottom all the way up there are going to be job cuts in different areas and education will be the most effective. Citizens will begn to open their eyes because they are being affected now. There is hope.

Not to mention their taxes will be going up. They will start to question where the money is going, more closely. The Mayday march should open their eyes real wide.
