Companies hiring illegal immigrants may be skirting other laws, too

The Business Journal of Phoenix - by Mike Sunnucks Phoenix Business Journal
Law enforcement officials and immigration attorneys say companies that hire illegal immigrants also may be skirting unemployment and workers' compensation insurance and tax payments, paying substandard wages, and sometimes committing document fraud related to the hirings.

"Other possible charges could be money laundering, tax evasion and overtime violations," said Sandra Raynor, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office for Arizona in Phoenix.

Raynor said employers also could face a number of immigration charges, such as harboring illegal immigrants and encouraging them to come to the U.S.

Vincent Picard, spokesman for the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement agency, said in some cases businesses hiring illegal immigrants have coordinated those moves with staffing companies or fraudulent identification rings, which provide migrant workers with fake IDs and Social Security numbers.

How long did it take them to reach this conclusion and how much money did it cost us?

I think that these are the sort of companies that En*ique Mo*ones has as his clients.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

What a shocking conclusion. NOW, with that said, ALL employers should be fined, imprisoned, pay back taxes etc. Enough already with hiring this cheap labor that the pro-illegal alien supporters say Americans won't do. OF course they won't do it, not for the slave wages you pay the illegals.

SUPPORT the SAVE act, VOTE any politician out regardless of their party affiliation if they support illegal aliens, aka, support law-breaking people here illegally!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, they are real quick aren't they? That's what they found with all the fraud at O'hare airport with illegals. I know for a fact around here that the majority of the employment agencies are set up basicly to service hispanics. All Spanish speakers and you can go and put your application in but you are rarely called for anything. They advertise various jobs but it's mostly all construction and warehouse work. If you are by chance sent......they have the hispanics meet at the employment office and they are all driven over but others must drive themselves. Instructions are given in Spanish and the rest are left to figure it out on their own. I know the whole scene is nothing like I've ever seen in any other agencies before. Now the legit agencies are always packed to the hilt with all sorts of people looking for work so it doesn't take a brain child to figure something a tad crooked is going on.

Hey guys, let's not forget one of the most important federal laws illegal aliens are breaking:

ATTENTION, UNDOCUMENTED MALES & IMMIGRANT SERVICING GROUPS!

If you are a man ages 18 through 25 and living in the U.S., then you must register with Selective Service. It’s the law. You can register at any U.S. Post Office and do not need a social security number. When you do obtain a social security number, let Selective Service know. Provide a copy of your new social security number card; being sure to include your complete name, date of birth, Selective Service registration number, and current mailing address; and mail to the Selective Service System, P.O. Box 94636, Palatine, IL 60094-4636.

Be sure to register before your 26th birthday. After that, it’s too late!

Selective Service does not collect any information which would indicate whether or not you are undocumented. You want to protect yourself for future U.S. citizenship and other government benefits and programs by registering with Selective Service. Do it today.

Now that citizens are speaking out loudly and clearly that they want illegal alien entries into this country stopped, the lawyers & others are finally discovering there are laws and regulations that apply, beyond the obvious you broke into our country or overstayed your legal welcome!

As others have posted, but in my own words, "gosh!"

Now, all we really need for these folks to do is, get off their collective toukeses & legally cite those guilty of these crimes & misdemeanors! Since it has taken "decades" for this crowd to discover there are actually other laws that may have been broken (love it when they use the words "may have"), one can only guess how long it will take for them to proactively go out and actually start charging people with these crimes!

I suppose I should be happy they noticed and now express they may want to do something about it. But it sure is frustrating!
