Well, isn't that just typical of the pro-immigrant movement, wasting time, energy and resources on the absurd. What would they like to vote for in these local elections? More local bond issues to increase their taxes and infrastructure but run their employers out of dodge? Mayors who want to ban trans fat, smoking and Big Gulps?

Maria Carpio, 57, a retired office cleaner from El Salvador, has been a legal resident since 1987. She said she had failed the citizenship test because of her limited eyesight and poor English, but that she volunteered to pass out fliers for a Latino school board candidate in November.

“I have worked hard here all my life,” Carpio said. “I should have the right to express my opinion.”
Someone who cleaned offices can afford to retire at 57 in the Washington DC area? Wow, there's a bunch of American citizens up there who would like to figure out how to do that.
