Dozens of illegal immigrants found hiding in smugglers' homes in D.C.: Report

Over 70 migrants found in high-income area, according to ICE documents.

Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers reportedly discovered dozens of illegal immigrants in smugglers' houses in an affluent sector of Washington, D.C., according to a media review of internal documents.

Agents with ICE "found 73 migrants living in houses operated by human smugglers in the Northwest area of Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, according to internal documents reviewed by NBC News," the news network said on Thursday.

The discovery reportedly consisted of 60 adults and 13 children. The immigrants were found "as part of an operation that targeted six residential homes believed to be operated by human smugglers," the network said.

A "small amount" of cocaine and nearly $100,000 were also discovered, according to the documents.

The northwest quadrant of Washington is notably affluent, NBC noted, with median household prices there running around $750,000.
