Dreamers Have A Phone App To Find Free Colleges

The thing that is bothersome about the Dreamer declaration is O extended it to ALL those that have come here under 16 yrs of age - then prior to 2012 entry & now "catch & release" all here before 2014 (which they can't prove either one).

The act is for those brought here as a child by their parents years ago - not those that sneaked across by themselves while bush & o were in office. A report from 2012 speaks 1.8 million eligible - O wants DACA for over 5 million, probably more now. Another back door amnesty while the border is wide open. reference 2012

There are roughly 1.8 million immigrants in the United States who might be, or might become, eligible for the Obama Administration’s “deferred action” initiative for unauthorized youth brought to this country as children. This initiative, announced on June 15, offers a two-year, renewable reprieve from deportation to unauthorized immigrants who are under the age of 31; entered the United States before age 16; have lived continuously in the country for at least five years; have not been convicted of a felony, a “significant” misdemeanor, or three other misdemeanors; and are currently in school, graduated from high school, earned a GED, or served in the military. Within this population of potential beneficiaries, however, are three distinct groups:

1.) Those who are between the ages of 15 and 30 who are either in high school or already have high school diplomas. This group is immediately eligible for deferred action.
2.) Those between the ages of 5 and 14 who will be eligible at some point in the future if the deferred action initiative remains in place.
3.) Those between the ages of 15 and 30 who are not in high school and don’t have high school diplomas. Members of this group might be eligible for deferred action if they get a GED.

WOW: Illegal Immigrants Now Have A Phone App, Where They Can Easily Do THIS. It’s Time To Wake Up

(too bad American citizens' children do not have free college or help finding such - gov't would rather student loan them into an early debt cycle)

    Adding fuel to the fire...

    Colleen Conley April 5, 2016 at 2:44pm

The controversial topic of illegal immigration has been a hot-button issue in the 2016 Republican presidential race, and a new smartphone app that illegal aliens can soon access is likely to add fuel to the fire.

While the American middle class struggles to send its own children to college, illegals who have benefited from the largesse of taxpayers now have another boondoggle available — literally at their fingertips. Called the DREAMERer’s RoadMap, the app features scholarships specifically for undocumented immigrants. It was developed by Sarahi Espinoza Salamanca, an illegal immigrant who was brought to the United States when she was 4 years old.

As a senior in high school, Salamanca ran into a roadblock in furthering her education. She could not legally work to pay for college — even those offering in-state tuition for illegals — and guidance counselors did not know where to refer her to obtain scholarships. So she set about finding them on the Internet on her own.

Salamanca obtained an associate’s degree from Canada College in Redwood City, California, then won a competition sponsored by the Voto Latino Innovators Challenge, which awarded her $100,000 as start-up funds for her idea to launch an app that students can access for free directly from their smartphones. DREAMer’s Roadmap — which will officially launch this month — currently has about 500 scholarships in its database.

According to KQED News, users of DREAMer’s Roadmap can filter the database to narrow down the scholarships they qualify for. When they find a scholarship they like, users can share, comment or save the listing. If users know of a scholarship that is not listed, they can submit it, and DREAMer’s Roadmap will verify that it is legitimate before it goes live on the app.

To market her idea, the Palo Alto, California, resident has partnered with schools, including Sequoia High School Dreamer’s Club in Redwood City and UC Berkeley’s Undocumented Student Program.

Salamanca now has her green card and plans to attend a four-year university this year. No slouch in the millennial marketing department, she’s already she was one of Forbes 30 Under 30: Education in 2016, was named a Champions of Change recipient by President Obama’s administration in 2014 and participated in the DREAMer Hackathon hosted by Mark Zuckerberg in 2013.

While the new app may assist illegal immigrants in obtaining a college degree, what immigration laws have withstood the Obama administration’s relentless assaults over the past years are still standing in the way of their American dream. As illegal immigrants, even college graduates cannot legally work in the United States without a green card or work permit.

The Obama administration has been doing its best to change that, however, via an executive order called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) that would allow for up to 5 million illegals to stay in the United States. Courts in Texas and New Orleans have called for a temporary injunction against the program which has been challenged by 26 states.

Maybe someone in the Obama White House is working on an app for that.

Arizona college imposes mandatory fee to fund scholarship for illegal immigrants

By Malia Zimmerman Published April 06, 2016

A private college in Arizona is charging students a fee to fund a scholarship for illegal immigrants, a controversial move supporters say gives a hand to those who need it but anti-illegal immigration advocates call irresponsible.

Prescott College is tacking a $30 annual fee onto its $28,000 annual tuition to establish an annual scholarship for “undocumented” students, as part of a policy first proposed by students and faculty from the undergraduate and Social Justice and Human Rights Master of Arts divisions. While students can opt out of paying the fee,
if they do nothing it will be automatically imposed.

Backers say it helps reverse what they call Arizona’s reputation as a “national example of discriminatory politics.”

“I am proud that our students take on the role of scholar activists,” said school President John Flicker, adding that the university is committed to “broaden access to higher education for a diverse group of students” and “mobilize
    its resources towards social justice.”

“It is beyond absurd that this college is going to force all the students to subsidize the education of a student who is in the country illegally,”
    - Jessica Vaughan, Center for Immigration Studies

Supporters note that illegal immigrants are allowed to attend state and private colleges in Arizona, but in most cases cannot legally work or receive government grants or loans.

Making legal residents enrolled at the school pay for illegal immigrants’ education is a slap in the face to a generation already facing its post-college years saddled with enormous debt, said Andrew Kloster, legal Fellow for the Center for Legal & Judicial Studies at Heritage Foundation.
