Families come to America seeking a better life

    By Kimberly Nicoletti

    January 30, 2006

FRISCO — Six-year-old Carlos smiles as he puts on a red plastic firefighter’s hat and places his hands on an imaginary steering wheel, pretending to drive. He doesn’t notice that his 22-year-old mother, Elena, is holding back tears.

“Ideally, if immigrants could teach Americans what is valuable
First, Elena has Mexican songs, recipes, legends, history and celebrations to teach them. Nearly 70 percent of immigrants say they identify more with the U.S. than Mexico, according to the New York Times and CBS poll, but she wants her children to at least know her favorite legends — such as Los Niños Héroes.

She becomes animated as she tells the story of six young Mexican military cadets who refused to surrender at the battle of Chapultepec in 1847. After five died fighting against U.S. forces, the last one stood strong, wrapping the Mexican flag around him.
Uh Huh, this pretty much speaks for itself. They reject American culture and wish to impose Mexican culture.

    Appeal to pity

The above article is an appeal to emotion instead of reason. When someone doesn't have a leg to stand on, or is too lazy to craft an argument, they resort to an appeal. By focusing our emotions on the plight of the individual, the author distracts from the overall effect of A MILLION Elena's.

Just because we want immigration reform, it doesn't mean we're "anti-immigrant," or xenophobic. As former Colorado governor Dick Lamm said:

"Hey, I like snow. Nothing is more invigorating than a gentle snow, and nothing more beautiful than an individual snowflake. But when snow starts to accumulate in drifts, when there's a snowstorm, it's a problem. You don't have to dislike snow to be concerned about a snowstorm."

I, for one, am concerned and deeply troubled about the effects the MILLIONS of Elena's are having on our country!

Elena is illegal and yet she accuses her mexican american supervisor of treating her unfairly ????
I'd say it was unfair she was hired in the first place-
but not to worry- her kids can grow up to be IMMIGRATION ATTORNEYS
by the way- where is that article done by the Pew Center a few months ago? the one that dispelled the myth of the hungry and starving mexican- it turns out they are coming here for jobs that pay better - not because they are starving-
it would be nice- if one of these feel good about illegal stories would work in such things as TB infection or the crime rate or the displacement of blacks - the very young/ the old /and the disabled due to illegal immigration.

Try the above link. I couldn't find it on the Pew Reserch Org. website, but this is a different link to the very same report

They might do that if they were trying to be fair and honest journalists, but they are pushing their agenda. That article is pro-illegal immigration propaganda and nothing more!
