Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Tuesday carried out the extradition of a Mexican national, who is listed as one of Tamaulipas’ Most Wanted Criminals, to Mexico through the B&M International Bridge, said an agency press release.

Jesus Munatonez Juarez, 45, was wanted by the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office (PGJ) on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and resisting arrest, said ICE.

Munatonez was arrested in the U.S. after a failed attempt to enter the U.S. in May, and earlier this month an immigration judge issued a final order of removal, the agency reported.

ICE coordinated the removal with the PGJ and met halfway at the international bridge to extradite the prisoner.

PGJ had sought Munatonez since 2002, when a judge in Ciudad Aleman issued an arrest warrant for him on kidnapping charges, ICE said.

On July 11, 2005 another judge in Mexico charged him with attempted murder, resisting arrest and crimes against a public servant, PGJ said.

Immigration authorities had previously deported Munatonez in 1989 after he was convicted in Harris County for possession of a controlled substance, ICE said.
