In January, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signaled his commitment to enforcing President Donald Trump’s America First agenda and efforts to deport illegals by calling
a special session of the legislature.

    At a Friday press conference,
DeSantis announced an agreement between the state of Florida and ICE on illegal immigration enforcement.

The agreement states that state and local officers will partner with ICE officials under their 287 (g) program, which authorizes ICE to delegate them to work specified immigration officer functions under ICE oversight.

ICE can also now identify and deport already incarcerated criminal illegal aliens.

“This program allows ICE enforcement and removal operations to partner with state and local enforcement agencies to identify and remove already incarcerated criminal aliens who are eligible for removal before they are released into our community,” DeSantis stated.

DeSantis also shared that Florida Highway Patrol will be trained and authorized by ICE to carry out immigration enforcement actions in the Sunshine State.

“President Trump is committed to effectuating the largest deportation effort in U.S. history.”

“To help fulfill this mission, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has offered an agreement with the Florida Highway Patrol to be trained & authorized by ICE to carry out immigration enforcement actions here in our state.”

“Thanks to strong leadership from the Trump Administration, state law enforcement will now be able to execute ICE’s 287(g) program to deport illegal aliens without unnecessary delays.”

“Florida law enforcement officers are already doing great work, and we look forward to unleashing even more resources to capture and deport the illegal aliens who were invited into our country by the Biden Administration.”

“These next four years must be when we end the illegal immigration crisis once and for all.”
