It points out that this is only one of many records Obama has refused to release publically, although I don't know to what extent this also is true of other political candidates (beyond the place of birth issue).

Davis is not running for president, Obama is. Is Davis in line to be Secretary of State, or Interior? Lots of people have radical backgrounds and associations, most of them end up as stockbrokers, managers, or salesmen. To me it would be more serious to have been a mentor than a father anyway, especially a father who didn't raise him. Exactly when was this mentoring taking place? Obama ran in a lot of circles that some consider hip (i.e. Afro-centric Christianity) that rub mainstream Americans the wrong way. But we knew that. If he gets elected, he'll have find a way to be president of us all, not just the left or minorities.

Personally, I believe Obama's refusal to release documents of his past should have been visited a whole lot more than it was. To take a chance on a complete unknown at a time when our country is threatened by terrorists, has a shaky economic future, and needs the guidance of an honest leader, is baffling to me. There are definitely too many questions about this candidate that have gone unanswered. Between the secrecy and the facts brought out about his numerous shady associations, it should've been enough for the DNC to deny him the nomination. I am very nervous about him winning the election because my gut is telling me that his loyalties lie in a very different direction than in the best interest of America.
RIP TinybobIdaho -- May God smile upon you in his domain forevermore.

Obama's certificate of birth OK, state says

Health director issues voucher in response to 'ridiculous' barrage

    By Dan Nakaso
    Advertiser Staff Writer

State Health Department employees continue to be barraged by requests from people demanding to see Barack Obama's birth certificate, including some who have called the department's registrar of vital statistics at home — in the middle of the night.

"This has gotten ridiculous," state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. "There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy."

So, in what likely will be a vain attempt to halt the inquiries, Fukino yesterday issued a statement saying that she and the registrar of vital statistics personally inspected Obama's birth certificate and found it to be valid.

Will this be enough to quiet the doubters?

"I hope so," Fukino said. "We need to get some work done."

Fukino issued her statement to try to stomp out persistent rumors that Obama was not born in Honolulu — and is therefore not a U.S. citizen and thus ineligible to run for president.

Fukino, however, repeated the Health Department's position that state law prohibits her or any other officials from actually releasing the birth certificate, which Obama's campaign says shows he was born in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961.

"There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama's official birth certificate," Fukino said in the statement. "State law (Hawai'i Revised Statutes ¤338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record. ... No state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State of Hawai'i."

The issue has generated attention from around the world — and court challenges across the country.

Obama critics in Ohio, Seattle and Philadelphia have tried to get their state officials to remove Obama's name from their election ballots until his birthplace could be confirmed. Judges, so far, have dismissed all of the suits.

A New York Internet author named Andy Martin has a Circuit Court hearing date set for Friday in Honolulu — three days after Tuesday's presidential election — on his lawsuit to get a certified copy of Obama's birth certificate. Hawai'i's Supreme Court denied Martin's request on Oct. 22 to expedite the hearing.

In Hawai'i, birth, death, marriage and certain divorce documents can only be released to people with a "tangible interest," such as the people themselves, their parents, spouses, grandparents or other relatives.

As a result, Fukino said she does not believe Health Department officials could release Obama's birth certificate to the public even with his permission, although she would need to get a legal ruling to be certain.

Bloggers and Obama critics allege that Obama actually was born in Kenya, but have provided no documentation. Obama supporters and satirists, such as Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central, counter that he actually was born on Superman's home planet of Krypton.

Obama's campaign has posted a copy of the Honolulu birth certificate on its Web site at www.fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate. The nonpartisan Web site www.Factcheck.org says the document appears to be authentic.

But the Web site documentation has only generated more fuel for skeptics.

They point to the lack of an official state seal on the document, although Health Department officials say seals often are placed on the backs of birth certificates.

Bloggers and other skeptics also wonder why a large black rectangle appears next to the words "CERTIFICATE NO."

Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo said the blackened portion is a department file number that was redacted to prevent hackers from breaking into the Health Department's system.

JohnDoe 2 - you haven't presented anything new here. They say the document is 'valid'. Okay, fine. But what is printed on it??? Do you not understand that it could have his place of birth listed as Kenya? Or maybe it has a different father listed than he claims. We don't know! Why doesn't Obama end all the speculation and issue a certified copy to the media immediately?

Hawaii would not issue a birth certificate unless he was born in Hawaii.
It doesn't matter who his father is, he is still a citizen.
He has satisfied the election people, he doesn't have to show YOU anything.
If he issued a certified copy to the media you would still say it was fake or didn't have all of the information that you demand to see.
    It will never end.
    You will never be convinced.

How could he get a Hawaiian birth certificate if he was born in Kenya? Wouldn't he then have a Kenyan birth certificate?

    RUMORS

Facts don't get in the way of Web rumors

Internet gossip intended for shrinking pool of undecided voters

    updated 7:16 p.m. PT, Sat., Nov. 1, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO - With just days to go before the election, gossip, hearsay, innuendo and smears are flying through the Internet as gadflies and rumormongers hope to sway voters before they head to the polls.

"It's a lot of mud being slung, it's understandable, but I think it's still kind of sad," said Nick DiFonzo, a psychologist and rumor expert at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York.

Candidates and their campaigns are circulating negative bits of information in mainstream venues, raising questions about their opponents in speeches and dropping sour hints in their advertisements. But only on the Internet can entirely false rumors persist, stories told without back up, persistently bouncing from one blog to another.

Some have been out there for years, despite repeated rebuttals from the campaigns. Others surfaced only this past week. And they range from the truly silly (Weekly World News Web site: "OCTOBER SURPRISE: ALIEN ENDORSES MCCAIN!") to the multitude of bloggers who report results even though votes have yet to be counted: ("Has John McCain Won Florida?" asked the Red State Web site Thursday).

Most voters say they have already made their decisions about who they want to have as their next president. So the Internet rumors are targeted at the shrinking pool of undecided voters who are still waiting, wondering and potentially still gathering information.

"The online rumors can affect their last-minute decisions," said UC Santa Cruz psychology professor Anthony Pratkanis, who researches propaganda and social influence.
Here's a chance to vet the Net:

    The rumor:
The Huffington Post Web site, among others, has reported that John McCain used an obscene word to describe his wife, Cindy, during his 1992 Senate campaign.

    The facts:
This is unsubstantiated. Author and blogger Cliff Schecter initiated this rumor this spring online and then in a book called "The Real McCain." He wrote that three reporters told him that in response to some teasing, McCain told his wife: "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop," with an expletive. Schecter has not provided any evidence this happened, and he hasn't identified the three reporters who he says spoke to him on condition of anonymity.

    The rumor:
Barack Obama isn't a citizen, suggested bloggers at the Free Republic Web site. Or if he is, he's hiding his birth certificate for some mysterious reason. Or if he's shared his birth certificate, it's a fake because he's lying about who his real father is. New iterations on this theme pop up almost everyday at various Web sites.

    The facts:
Obama plainly is a citizen because he was born in the U.S. In response to the allegations, Obama's campaign in June posted the Illinois senator's birth certificate on his campaign Web site. The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document. On Friday, officials in Hawaii said they had personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate. Judges in Washington state, Ohio and Pennsylvania have dismissed lawsuits challenging his citizenship.

(Other rumors deleted to keep it short.)

Due to privacy laws, Hawaii officials can not disclose information on that certificate.

Obama could also have a Kenyan birth certificate, but the government has sealed all records, until after the election. Why was that necessary? Why would he have any records there, if he left before he was born?
    http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=F ... c&t=136326

Obama has a "valid birth certificate". Obama's mama is a citizen, so Obama is a citizen. Where was Obama born?

We still don't know, if Obama was born in a hospital and delivered by a doctor. I would be very suspicious, if it said born at home or delivered by a midwife.

That is a huge opportunity to get a certificate for a child that was not born in the country. It's fraud and that's the lie I would tell, if my child was born in Kenya a few days earlier and I wanted a state issued brith certificate.

Ok, so Obama is an American with a birth Certificate, just like the Brownsville, Texas illegal aliens. A birth certificate does not make you an American citizen. A birth certificate does not stand alone to prove you were born in America. Just like all of the Brownsville illegal aliens that have state issued birth certificates.
