Judy, each state is different. You're actually better off in NC. We here in NJ must drag the criminal into the house, LOL. {No kidding!} Our state caters to the CRIMINAL in all things.

FYI: I'm not blowing smoke here. We had an "incident" some years ago on my property. We both armed and my husband waited outside in the dark in order to "catch them in the act." I waited at an upstairs darkened window. He caught them. The troopers later attempted to "confiscate" my husband's weapon! They were NOT successful.
BTW, it took them over an hour to arrive on the scene.

But, guys, look who the governor of the state of Arizona IS..Janet Napiltano...(sp)..I rather doubt she'd call out the guards unless she herself were in danger. She loves those border crossers...those 'migrants'...

In Texas we are allowed to shoot to kill if someone enters our home...I don't know about on the property itself...I think if you're being menaced that you can shoot in that case.

It's absolutely shameful that the governors of these states have not called out the Guard...we're being overrun here...unless the prez has stated that he wants those troops at his disposal...people in foreign countries might want their borders secured, you know...and of course they would come first.

Yeah.... in my home state of Missouri....it's a little different than here too.

There, the criminal has to actually break into your house and try to kill you before you can shoot.

My Mom, after my Dad died, asked the Sheriff what she should do if someone tried to break in. The Sheriff came out to the farm some miles from town and told her the law. They had to break in and be coming at you. Mom looked at him and said, well, alot could go wrong waiting for all that to happen. The Sheriff was quiet for a minute and said, Pat, if someone is at your door that you know is dangerous and they try to break that door down, you shoot through the door....and we'll work the rest out.

    This is almost exactly what happened to me, LOL. Our friend {NJ Trooper} told me shoot first then DRAG EM INTO THE DOOR. I'm only 4'10" and he made it clear that if the FEET were inside they'd "work it out".....I can't stop laughing!! He knew I could do just so much if the person was what I call a "big guy." "that's anybody over 5'5", lol}

LOOK AT THESE GUYS...........this could be part of the answer to these Rancher's problems.
    The RANCH RESCUE organization

    http://www.ranchrescue.com/index.htm#missionstatement

    Mission Statement

Ranch Rescue is a volunteer organization composed of people who believe that when government fails or refuses to act, individual Citizens are obligated to act on their own. Our membership works to preserve and protect the individual private property rights of all our nation's Citizens, regardless of race, color, creed, or religion.

First and foremost among our concerns are the counties along the southern borders of Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas, where private property landowners are threatened, harassed, intimidated, burglarized, and assaulted by thousands of criminal trespassers every year. These criminals have absolutely no respect for the private property rights of their victims. Drug smugglers, criminal gang members, bandits, thugs, and international terrorists cross over privately owned farm and ranch land in our border counties and they victimize the rural landowners along the way. Government has utterly ignored the victimization of these rural families.

We volunteer to help these private landowners with the repair of private property destroyed by these mass numbers of criminal trespassers and we provide volunteer security for these landowners, their homes, and their private property.

We only participate in repair and security efforts while we are the invited guests of the private property landowners. As guests, we are obligated to adhere to the wishes of our hosts.

We are not, however, obligated in any way to other private Citizens or groups, nor to any foreign national, government, entity, or representative. Specifically, we are not obligated in any way to cater to the wishes of any foreign nation, nor the wishes of anyone from the United Nations. Neither is any other Citizen within these United States.

We each travel, assemble, and work on these rescue projects at our own risk and expense. We receive absolutely no funding from any governmental or private organization whatsoever. We also are free of any of the control or influence that always accompanies such financial assistance.

We are private Citizens who recognize that America became a prosperous nation due to the sanctity of private property acquired, owned, utilized, and held by individual Citizens and not by government entities or so-called "activist" groups.

We completely reject and oppose Socialism in all of its forms, for Socialism's central objective is the abolition of all private property rights for individual Citizens.

We completely reject and oppose all Environmentalist measures, proposals, and agendas for the same reason. Private property first, foremost, and always. Everything else is not even a close second.

We are most definitely not "Politically Correct" by any and all definitions of that term. Political Correctness serves exclusively to promote Socialist / Environmentalist agendas. It has no other purpose, regardless of any tall tales told by its proponents and practitioners. The term "Politically Correct" first appeared in the writings of Anton Semionovich Makarenko, Vladimir Lenin's expert on Communist education. 'Nuff said?

Socialists, Environmentalists, and the "Politically Correct" are, in every case, liars and fools of the very worst kind, and as such they deserve no serious consideration by any intelligent Citizen of our great nation.

Please follow the links on this page to our various border county rescue efforts in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas. If you would like to add your state or county to our assistance efforts, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator .

And there it is..."Every American is a soldier and Every American is in this Fight." George Bush, of the United States.

We're gonna make him EAT THOSE WORDS.

But we thank him and we thank Ranch Rescue....we NOW HAVE THE FULL AUTHORITY TO TAKE OUR OWN ACTION....from the lips of the Presidio himself!

GREAT POST!! I hope ranchers and farmers will contact these people to help them. They are like Minute Men on the ranches.

    Outstanding!!

I never liked that PC thing...no wonder....it's a Commie Crone Thing!

    Very very "icky".

    JUDY!
First I'd like to thank my Arizona buddy for sending that info to me re: Ranchers.

Secondly, my thoughts were running in the vein that we need to get this info into the hands of Tancredo and any other person who can get it into the hands of the Ranchers and folks on the border.

Similar here. Just recently, a man shot an armed man trying to break into his house and was charged with murder ..... for defending himself.

As for the "heavily armed men" on the border, its an obvious act of war ... if this isent I dont know what is.

Ranch Rescue is a pretty tough group. A rancher here in Texas used them..and they shot an illegal. The illegal's family sued the rancher. Don't know if they won or not..but do know it became a lawsuit. Frankly I thought they should have gotten a medal, not a lawsuit. JMO
