One invader has been deported 44 times in 15 years.

How often do we see someone charged with murder and headline reads deported 7 times, deported 5 times?

How much is it costing the tax payer to just spin our wheels with all these court proceedings, translators, jails, airline flights back?

Military on the border is the deterrent we need

The cases you're talking about were not under the "zero tolerance" policy. That's the kind of thing the "zero tolerance" policy is supposed to fix. Before, the answer was just deportation, deportation, deportation, without prosecution. Didn't matter how many times you entered illegally, you just got deported. That needs to end and that is what the Trump administration is attempting to accomplish through their "zero tolerance" policy. We have to make the illegals understand that there are consequences to their illegal acts and deportation is not a punishment.

Article says 17 of the guilty were fined $10 and not sentenced to jail since they had no criminal history though i don't know how the judge knows that. Anyway - that is not much punishment.

I'm sure the authorities did a records check. None of us can know if they had a record in their country, but if they did in this country, their fingerprints would reveal that.

Sure you can. Someone got paid to arrest them, transport them, house them, feed them, detain them, guard them, process them, oh yeah, that turnip paid bigly.

The term "blood from a turnip" means green money, not red blood.

In the Old Testament God required a blood offering for sin. Hence, you can't get blood out of a turnip.

It seems most of them have already spent time behind bars and were given credit for time served. I'm not going to go back and read the article but it seems at least one of them served 4 1/2 months behind bars before he was prosecuted and made ready for deportation. However, I don't really think jail time and fines are the motivation behind the criminal prosecution. Now they have a record of crossing the border illegally. Should they get caught a 2nd time, which is a felony reentry, they'll get up to 2 years in prison. The whole idea behind "zero tolerance" is to provide a deterrent to reentry. How many times have we heard of illegals being deported 5, 10, 15 times? The old way of doing business which was to just catch and release them at the border hasn't worked to deter anyone. There must be consequences and the fear of future consequences if we're to have any hope of getting a handle on this.

There's a record when they're bumped out at the border. They enter their names in the computer, they process the voluntary self-deportation for illegal entry, they don't have to be detained for months and years and then presented to a "judge" to have their illegal entry on the record. All their illegal entries are on the record when they're first caught.

Obviously the catch and release over and over again at the border hasn't been working to deter anyone! If you don't believe me, just ask Kate Steinle's family. There's got to be consequences.
