CBP to Hire Additional Officers Nationwide
Release Date:
July 23, 2014
WASHINGTON — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agency responsible for securing U.S. borders from all threats, is accepting applications nationwide for CBP officer positions at air, land and sea ports across the country. As a result of funding provided in the fiscal year 2014 budget, CBP will hire 2,000 additional officers by the end of fiscal year 2015 to enhance security, help reduce wait times and facilitate growing volumes of legitimate goods and travelers that are critical to the health of our Nation’s economy.
“We are recruiting applicants of the highest integrity and moral character to become members of the CBP workforce,” said Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske. “We are looking for candidates who want to serve and protect this country and who meet the rigorous employment standards of the CBP officer position.”
An applicant for the CBP officer position must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the U.S for the past three years; must be referred for selection prior to their 37th birthday (or a preference eligible veteran, or have prior civilian federal law enforcement experience); and have a valid driver’s license. In addition, applicants must pass an entrance examination, medical examination, physical fitness assessments, video-based test and/or structured interview, drug test, background investigation and polygraph examination.
CBP offers a unique opportunity for veterans to continue serving their country in an environment that appreciates the hard-earned knowledge, skills and abilities veterans gain through serving on the front lines. Nearly 30 percent of CBP employees are military veterans.
For selected candidates, CBP offers paid training to fully prepare them for an exciting career in federal law enforcement, the opportunity to serve our country, and a competitive salary and benefits package.
CBP is an equal opportunity employer and encourages women and minorities to apply so that the agency can create a workforce that reflects the diversity of America.

"... the agency responsible for securing U.S. borders from all threats..." Provided the overseeing government allows them to do that, but not for at least 28 years they have'nt and I'm still seeking the reason why not?
If applicable, I believe we have reason to suspect our government now of false advertising, too! When will they stop enbarrassing themselves? Insanity run riot!
