Thread: Illegal immigrants to be refused Michigan driver's licenses

The NY Sun writes, "The change is aimed at complying with an opinion issued last month by Attorney General Mike Cox, who said granting licenses to illegal immigrants is inconsistent with federal law."

If granting licenses is inconsistent with federal law, will people in Maryland and the other states that grant licenses please bring suit to stop the practice! Or is it up to the federal government? Does anybody know?

That list is not right, it's old, there are 6 now, including Maine.

On April 20, 2005, ICE agents in Michigan, assisted by U.S. Postal Inspectors, arrested four individuals, Ali Hail, Daher Al-Mayahi, Barbara Wilke, and Mohamad Barry, and seized more than $20,000 and a variety of document-production equipment, as part of an ongoing investigation into the production and trafficking of fraudulent State of Michigan driver's licenses, U.S. Visas, foreign passports and Social Security cards. Hundreds of illegal aliens received driver's licenses through the scheme. According to court documents, the investigation began after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized a number of blank Guinea driver's licenses en route to Ali Hawil. An undercover ICE agent, posing as an Iraqi arms dealer with an Afghan passport, made contact with Hawil, who then arranged a meeting with Al-Mayahi. Al Mayahi demanded several hundred dollars for the driver's license — something Al Mayahi said he had done "a thousand times" according to court documents.

Michigan Republican Mark Siljander has been charged with money laundering, conspiracy and obstruction of justice for lying about lobbying other U.S. lawmakers on behalf of the Islamic charity (Islamic American Relief Agency or IARA) that was known to secretly fund terrorists. California driver's licenses in Michigan,
and Maryland driver's licenses in Michigan,
and North Carolina driver's licenses in Michigan,
and Tennessee driver's licenses in Michigan,
and probably Florida commercial pilot's licenses in Michigan . . .

Oregon no longer issues licenses to illegals

So this is not current news.

Only four states still grant driver's licenses to illegals: Maryland, New Mexico, Washington, and Hawaii.
