    Illegal Immigration Figures in Maine

While illegal immigration has been a frequent subject of national debate, it's worth taking a look how each state is impacted individually by illegal immigration. Here's a behind-the-numbers look at how illegal immigration has impacted Maine.

According to research into U.S. census data by the Pew Research Center, 14 states saw a dip in illegal immigrant populations from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, those illegal immigrants numbered about 3.5 percent of the total U.S. population — 11. 2 million — of close to 316 million people, Pew noted. Additionally, those illegals marked 26 percent of the 42.5 million U.S. residents who were foreign-born.

Figures from Maine remained relatively static through that period given that the sample size of illegal immigration in Maine is so small.

Data from the Pew Research Center found in 2012 that illegal immigration in Maine:

Was estimated at fewer than 1,000 illegal residents

Made up 0.2 percent of the Maine's total population

Accounted for 6 percent of all immigrants in Maine

Was responsible for 0.2 percent — children born to parents who were unauthorized residents — of all K-12 students

Comprised 0.3 percent of the state's workforce

Was too insignificant to determine percentages of illegal residents that hailed from any particular countries of origin

It is sad to see the constant referencing to a bogus "11.2 million" illegal aliens. A much more accurate number would be about 25 million (see Immigration Counters.com) and other estimates are 30 to 40 million. Seeing that estimates are almost always too low, especially on issues where liberals would look worse with large numbers, it is pretty safe to assume 30 million is more realistic that the puny (and less alarming) 11 million.

Patriots, we must work harder to see that honest information reached everybody, especially when we see conservatives echoing the bogus 11 million Marxist "news" media estimates.
