Impact of Arizona Immigration Law in Arkansas
Impact of Arizona Immigration Law in Arkansas
Reported by: Pete Thompson, KARK 4 News

The Arizona immigration law has faced numerous legal challenges.
It would require immigrants to carry papers with them and police to question them if they're acting suspiciously.
We wanted to ask the question what the effect of a law like that be in Arkansas...in a state that does not have Arizona's flow of illegal immigrants.
Some say Arizona is just trying to enforce federal laws that area already has in place.
"We feel that our governor has turned his back on laws that need to be enforced and that's all that the Arizona law is," says Jeannie Burlsworth with Secure Arkansas.
Secure Arkansas wants to put together legislation similar to the Arizona law.
But others say the new law is for a state that deals with a tremendous flow of illegal immigrants... unlike Arkansas.
Some say it also sends an intimidating message to the Latino population.
Editor of El Latino newspaper, Michel Leidermann, says one statistic that people forget... is that 90 percent of illegal immigrants are employed.

The American people have not forgotten but our Government has.
And he doesn't see that this is a huge problem for the millions of Americans who are crying out for jobs???"When injustice become law, resistance becomes duty." Thomas Jefferson
