The Indictment of Lou Dobbs and CNN

PHOENIX (By Jon Garrido, Hispanic News) May 8, 2006

The record of evidence is more than hundreds of CNN broadcasts of Lou Dobbs Tonight.

Promoted as journalist reporting, Lou Dobbs is a self interest demagogue who makes use of popular prejudices, false claims and promises in order to gain ratings. Instead of unbiased journalistic reporting, Lou Dobbs' "Broken Borders" is a theatrical show with props and guests who are of the same opinion and state half truths who do not fully disclose known facts.

Simple hatred and continuous ranting night after night do not constitute the gravity of the charges in this indictment.

Rather, the charge is of conscious participation in a nationwide organized system of cruelty and injustice in violation of every moral and legal principle known to all civilized nations.

Hispanic News has carefully studied the record and found therein abundant evidence to support beyond a reasonable doubt charges against CNN and Lou Dobbs.

The hidden agenda of those who would profit by selling to the $1 Trillion Hispanic market is to do the expedient, to look the other way.

To do what is expedient and look the other way is a category with a growing list of members: Kimberly Clark, AOL, CNN en Español, Procter & Gamble, Albertsons, and General Motors. All know the truth of Lou Dobbs and all support his nightly bashing of Hispanics.

The most blatant villain is General Motors who promotes national marketing campaigns to sell to the ever increasing Hispanic market but also sells Buicks to Rusty Childress Buick.

On April 14, 2005, the General Motors Corporation launched a new national marketing campaign, General Motors' Sueño Latino. G.M. wants to add a twist to the sales come-on, "What can we do to put you in this car today?" It wants to deliver it en Español.

Fueled by the financial clout of the growing Hispanic population, G.M. has had recruiting events around the country, seeking bilingual Latino sales people to pitch General Motors vehicles to their own community.

On May 17, 2005, GM launched a new national marketing campaign, praising Hispanic Heroes.

The new National Hispanic marketing campaign focused on the major crucial issue of G.M.'s falling domestic market share.

At polar position is General Motors Phoenix dealership Rusty Childress instrumental in fathering Proposition 200 and daily inciting anti Hispanic sentiment as an active member of the Minutemen guarding the Arizona/Mexico border to prevent undocumented immigrants from entering the United States. However, if anyone makes it to Phoenix, Arizona, Childress wants to sell them a General Motors car states his advertising done in Spanish.

General Motors does what is expedient and looks the other way. To this category are added Procter & Gamble, and Albertsons who have now partnered with CNN en Español to sell to the Hispanic market.

Every Hispanic in the United States and Latin America should be informed about Lou Dobbs and CNN. If CNN and CNN en Español had their druthers, Hispanics around the world would be kept in the dark about Lou Dobbs being the leader of fixing "Broken Borders" by implementing HR 4437.

Hispanics around the world may not know the name Lou Dobbs, but HR 4437 declaring the undocumented as felons authored by Congressman James Sensenbrenner is now known everywhere in the Americas.

    Lou Dobbs

In his very skillful defense has asserted that there are others who must share the ultimate responsibility for what happens in the United States.

    There is truth in this.

The real complaining party in this indictment is: civilization.

Men who take part in the enactment of laws and decrees the purpose of which is the removal and criminalization of human beings.

The principle of criminal law in every civilized society has this in common: Any person who sways another to commit xenophobic hate mongering furnishes the lethal weapon for the purpose of the crime and becomes an accessory to the crime is therefore: guilty.

Lou Dobbs further asserts that he acts in what he thinks is in the best interest of the United States.

There is truth in this also.

For Dobbs is a tragic figure.

We loath the evil he does but compassion for the present torture of his soul must not beget forgetfulness of the torture (imprisonment, mental cruelty, separating families, and in the desert: dehydration, sickness and death) and the metal cruelty imposed by possible eradication by deportation leering behind every corner a constant fear that tears at the very fabric of dignity.

Dobbs' record and his fate illuminate the most shattering truth that has emerged from this indictment. If he and all of the others that appear on his broadcast had been degraded perverts and if all of the leaders of the United States had been sadistic monsters and maniacs then these events would have no more moral significance than an earthquake, or any other natural catastrophe.

But this indictment has shown that under a national crisis ordinary, even able and extraordinary men can delude themselves into the commission of hatred so vast and heinous that they beggar the imagination.

No one who has viewed any Dobbs broadcast can ever forget them. The undocumented sterilized because of expediency. A mockery made of friendship and faith.

The murder of children in the Arizona desert. How easily it can happen.

There are those in our own country, too, who today speak of the protection of country of survival. A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat.

Then it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way.

The answer to that is: Survival as what?

A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for.

It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult. Before the people of the world let it now be noted that here in our decision, this is what we stand for: Justice, truth, and the value of a single human being.

This is about the only thing in this diatribe that made any sense. The problem is that the country Hispanic News speaks of is our country, not theirs. Be sure, HN, we feel the grasp of the enemy at our throats and we here at ALIPAC have made our decision. We will defend the USA and our States with "whatever" it takes. Keep jabberin', you just get more and more of us aware of what your true purpose is.

Mr. Garrido seems to overlook the fact that Lou Dobbs rants about illegal immigration - not Hispanics, and not legal immigration.

Also, after a text search through the article there is (yet, once again) not one reference to the word 'illegal' or 'illegal alien'... It's propaganda - eg. as in: "because [their/his] view doesn't agree with mine, therefore, it is necessarily hate or racism".

I noticed that is a relatively old article (May 8, 06) - I wonder if he still feels so self-assured now? (After a Congressional roadblock, after states and cities propose and begin to enact their own enforcement mechanisms, after stepped up search/arrest of criminal aliens, after the wind blew out of the most recent round of 'big marches', etc, etc. - yes, we have a long way to go, but we have made some signficant progress and things ARE NOT what they were even 3 months ago...)

Chairman and President, Hispanic News Political Action Committee.

    History:

Jon Garrido is a 4th generation American Hispanic born and raised in Superior, Arizona moving to Globe to attend and graduate from Globe High School. After three and half years serving in the U.S. Army near Paris, France during the Vietnam era, Jon Garrido returned to Superior, Arizona to work underground at the Magma Copper Mine in Superior, Arizona for one year and three subsequent summers as he attended and graduated from Eastern Arizona College and then moved on to the University of Arizona and eventually, the University of Texas majoring in real estate development.

After the University of Arizona, Jon Garrido went to work for the City of Tucson as the Manpower Specialist (Planner I) then Economic Development Specialist (Planner II, and III) in the Department of Community Development. Jon was assigned to work with the inner target population in a task force structure to identify manpower, jobs and economic development need assessments then planning and developing programs and projects to address said assessments. Tucson was one of the first Model Cities and Planned Variation HUD programs in the United States. A primary component was working with residents from the redevelopment/revitalization area.

To prepare for economic development, Jon Garrido was awarded a fellowship to study economic development at the University of California, Berkeley, California, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration where a curriculum of business loan packaging including financial statements, cash flow analysis, proformas, market and feasibility studies, and development of a business park, industrial park, commercial downtown and residential development was taught. A major component was working with private lenders, the U.S. Small Business Administration's loan programs and federal procurement programs.

After returning to Tucson, Jon Garrido was appointed Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Tucson and assigned to the City Manager’s Office.

As Economic Development Coordinator, Jon Garrido prepared grant applications and received Federal approval for 12 public works projects. The City Manager assigned Jon Garrido as Public Works Coordinator to oversee the operation and administration of these projects. The 12 construction projects were street paving, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, sewer and water lines, park development and construction of the 22nd Street Bridge over the Santa Cruz River.

Jon Garrido took first in the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration national grant competition of states, counties, cities, school districts and Indian tribes to secure public works grants. Competitors around the country called the Tucson City Manager to find out how Tucson had succeeded in securing grants from the federal government. The City Manager asked Jon Garrido to return the calls. Returning the call to El Paso, Jon Garrido was offered the job heading up economic development for the City of El Paso.

While heading up economic development for the City of El Paso, Jon Garrido as a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Washington D.C., developed an urban design team within the department to plan revitalization of the central business district. As a member of ULI, Jon Garrido visited New York City and was briefed on the development of all major buildings including the former World Trade Center.

Jon Garrido also prepared the application and obtained approval from the United States Department of Commerce for the El Paso Foreign Trade Zone. Two years later, Jon Garrido moved to Mexico and become Jon Garrido Gonzales in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico where he established, owned and operated a Maquiladora with 80 Mexican and 20 American employees producing automotive parts for import into the USA.

Upon return to Arizona from Mexico, Jon Garrido became Director of Community Development for the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and negotiated development of the Scottsdale Pavilions and the Pima Freeway including design with the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Then back to the private sector as Vice President for Planning and Development for Valgroup, then the largest real estate development company in Arizona, responsible for planning, entitlements and development of 5,550 acres of land adjacent to Surprise, Arizona. Jon Garrido spearheaded a major concept of a three runway airport capable of accommodating air cargo and Luke Air Force F15 and F16 operations. Buffered by a business park, commercial and green belt was a 1000 acre master planned residential community west and adjacent to Sun City West.

The first phase of development was annexation of 215 acres of land into the Town of Surprise. This included responsibility for all entitlements and subdivision master planning.

In addition to the Surprise master plan community was Tonto Verde, a 614 acre master plan community in northeast Scottsdale, Arizona, northwest of Rio Verde. Two champion golf courses were planned with residential lots along both sides of golf fairways.

As managing partner with the founder of Valgroup, Jon Garrido developed a Wal-Mart in Scottsdale and continued on as a real estate planning consultant developing plans for Main Street Revitalization of Main Street, Payson, Arizona; Superior, Arizona; Gilbert Downtown, Gilbert, Arizona; and numerous other real estate commercial developments including in 2003-2004 serving as a consultant for a Texas pharmaceutical research company on developing a research facility near Austin, Texas.

In addition to a professional career, beginning in Tucson where Jon Garrido founded and was elected president of the Tucson Hispanic government employees organization that became the largest Tucson Hispanic advocacy organization began a journey of Hispanic involvement in affirmative action, social, political and religious issues. In addition to serving as president of the Tucson Hispanic government employee organization, Jon Garrido was also elected Chairman of the Spanish Speaking Council for the Diocese of Tucson spearheading change within the Catholic Church to accommodate needs of Hispanics in southern and eastern Arizona.

Involvement in Hispanic affairs led to the acquaintance of Patrick Apodaca, Associate Legal Counsel to the President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. Mr. Apodaca visited El Paso at the invitation of Jon Garrido to be the guest speaker at the LULAC district annual convention. Patrick Apodaca subsequently invited Jon Garrido to the White House and Treasury Department for interviews for the position of Director of the Office of Federal Revenue Sharing.

The highlight of working in Texas political campaigns was attending the White House Rose Garden ceremony at the invitation of President Reagan to announce the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. On a subsequent trip to Washington at the invitation of an Assistant Secretary at Interior, Jon Garrido was offered a deputy assistant secretary position at HUD.

The most remembered event in Washington was a private breakfast at the Washington Press Club with Vice President George Herbert Walker Bush who requested and received a campaign pledge to obtain support from the Hispanic community on becoming President of the United States.

The first stage of Jon Garrido's life was heading up economic development for two medium size cities and one Indian reservation.

The second stage was development chief of major real estate commercial, industrial, housing and airport real estate developments.

The third stage self taught was learning to do one website growing into a network of 45 websites under the umbrella of the Jon Garrido Network with a market niche being Hispanic/Latino. Of the 45 websites, 5 are now ranked number 1 by Google searches. The next level being developed is daily news video broadcasts of national and local news to be offered at JGNet, Hispanic News and Arizona News.

    On July 7, 2006, JGNet.net was acquired.

On August 22, 2006, JGNet.net was published as National News Videos for Hispanics and Latinos.

In early 2007, JGNet will each day publish the national daily news broadcast and editorial videos. Jon Garrido will provide editorial comments on issues that impact the national Hispanic and Latino community and issues in Phoenix, Arizona.
