JW Files New Brief in Lawsuit over Jailed Border Patrol Agents

It’s been over two years since U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean were convicted for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler and sent to prison. And Judicial Watch is still trying to obtain information from the government related to the decision to arrest the two agents and throw them in jail, while granting immunity to the drug smuggler in exchange for his testimony against them.

Here’s an excerpt from a brief we just filed with the U.S. District Court in our Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in the matter:

“Whatever the merits of Agents Ramos’ and Compean’s appeal, or the drug charges against Aldrete-Davila, substantial questions have arisen regarding the actions of U.S. government officials in prosecuting these agents, including questions about the involvement of Mexican government officials and the decisions to grant immunity to Aldrete-Davila and to allow him to re-enter the United States lawfully.â€
