HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — In the latest move on eastern Long Island to crack down on illegal immigrants, a freshman Suffolk County legislator proposed a bill on Thursday that would require the estimated 15,000 licensed contractors there to verify their workers’ legal status.
The legislator, Brian Beedenbender, said the legislation, which would be the first of its kind in the state, would “level the playing field for businessesâ€

Hiring illegal aliens is against the law and not doing background checks and using E-verify can get you sued if that person commits a crime at a jobsite,using company equitment,vehicle etc.It may take some lawsuits against companies hiring illegals without checking to make them do right.This does not make them deputies it makes them good businessmen or women and good citizens.CYA is always a good policy!
