Hispanic civil rights group, Sheriff’s Office mend the past by agreeing to work together

Over the years, the relationship between the League of United Latin American Citizens and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office has not been the friendliest.

But what a difference a year makes.

The civil rights group, also known as LULAC, recently renewed a year-old covenant of understanding with the Sheriff’s Office.

The hope, LULAC president Victor Valdes and Sheriff Kevin Rambosk both agree, is that together they can better tackle the issue facing Collier’s Hispanic community.
