Hispanic Christians rally for immigration reform

A Honduran immigrant from Dallas, Texas, chants during a prayer service on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

By Christopher A. Guzman, Religion News Service
WASHINGTON — A Hispanic Christian group plans to hold monthly prayer vigils on Capitol Hill in hopes of pushing Congress toward passing an immigration reform bill.
Leaders of the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders (CONLAMIC) joined Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., to urge the government to stop deporting illegal immigrants and focus on more pressing security threats.

FAITH & REASON: Is immigration a religious issue?

"Go after those who are a threat, but leave our families alone until this Congress, and very importantly, this president, fulfills his commitment to comprehensive immigration reform, so that we don't have these problems anymore," Gutierrez said.

"We want people to be able to adjust their (immigration) status, but people have to hear their stories."

CONLAMIC president Rev. Miguel Rivera urged his coalition of Catholics, evangelicals and Hispanics to pray for "momentum for comprehensive immigration reform."

Officials said the Capitol Hill prayer vigils will continue once a month in what Rivera called a "symbolic opportunity." In addition, town hall meetings and legislative hearings will be held across the country by the Hispanic Congressional Caucus to collect petitions and gather testimonies about what Gutierrez called a "broken immigration system."

Hey Louie - Many of us believe the invasion IS our most pressing security threat. Ya know, with all the time, effort, and money you all spend trying to overtake the U.S., why not rebuild your own country of Mexico - the only country, culture, and people you care about.

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.

Marxist Liberation Theology and New Sanctuary movement

This appears to be another "New Sanctuary movement" group, fired by Marxist Liberation Theology from Latin America.

We all know what Catholic Charities has done to unlawfully aid, abet, and harbor illegal aliens illegally entering the United States to illegally work here and to do whatever other illegal things they do during their illegal presence. Most of us are aware of Cardinal Roger Mahony's repeated violations of U.S. laws.

Another such Marxist Liberation Theology group is the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, or LIRS - I call them LI&RS.

"The U.S. immigration system is broken. With more than 10 million undocumented immigrants in the United States who are integral to our economic and cultural fabric, we need to protect their families, guard their rights, welcome them out of the shadows, and provide them a path to permanence."
Fine. Just don't do it within U.S. jurisdiction, where you are violating the immigration laws.

"The March 2008 issue of The Lutheran, a magazine published by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, showcases the church's deep interest in immigration issues and the work of LIRS. Read more:
    • Seeing all angles • The question of undocumented immigrants • A synod offers sanctuary • Three congregations work to stop deportations—'following the rules of the land' • God crosses borders"

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) before it have been left-wing liberals for at least 40 years, fellow travelers with the National Council of Churches. The New York City headquarters is fully politicized with the atheistic vision of apostate Europe in the early 20th century.

Unfortunately, though angels tarry long, many lovely Christian people refuse to flee from Sodom and Gomorrah.
One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.

Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

The last word: illegal aliens are ILLEGAL!

More flawed logic in the immigration debate.
As I've said, anything an illegal alien can do, so can a terrorists.

"Once in the United States, 16 of 23 terrorists became legal permanent residents, often by marrying an American. There were at least nine sham marriages. "

You should see the comments about this article at USA Today. As of this time, Late Wed night, there were 86+ comments, and ALL except maybe one were against illegal immigration.

Even a self-proclaimed liberal was against it. And he made a good point I hadn't thought of it in exactly this way. Many of us have said illegal immigrants from Mexico should return to their own country and help rebuild it. But he made the point that the U.S. is really hurting Mexico by allowing all the illegal immigration. U.S. is recruiting the people Mexico needs to help it rebuild. We are contributing to the total collapse of Mexico by allowing it.

I guess though if the governments of both countries are planning on the New World Order, they want Mexico to collapse, and they want to combine the two countries, more people and land for them to rule over....

Anyway, good comments on USA Today regarding this article.

I think they disabled the comments because when I tried the link there aren't any comments. Guess censorship is alive and well.

I just checked comments are still being posted....and out of 101, 100 are against illegal immigration. The propaganda/sob stories mostly written by affirmative action hires like Guzman...simply don't work...the bottom line is the overwhelming majority of Americans of all colors, creeds, races, ethnicities want an end to illegal immigration.....want E-Verify...want our laws enforced and don't want to pay taxes to subsidize health care and other benefits for illegal aliens of any age. Period.

Well i must be doing something wrong because I still only get the article and no comments.

Found the problem: I was entering from my AOL e-mail account and it wasn't showing the comments. Opened Firefox browser and it did.
