Prosecutors said his sentence was increased because he had a prior aggravated assault.

His attorney said he has two sons living here - ages eight and seven.

He is to be deported again after finishing the six years behind bars.

Maravilla-Flores said his aim was "to give my children a good life. I want them to get good schooling."

He added, "We are a working people. We are not people who kill people or anything like that."
