Are you sure about this? I heard another name being reported as Mehlmans replacement yesterday. I can't recall the exact name, but it sure wasn't Mel Martinez.

    Here is another.

CNN report: Mel Martinez to lead Republican National CommitteeBy Miami Herald Staff Report

Florida Sen. Mel Martinez has agreed to lead the Republican National Committee after the GOP's current chairman, Ken Mehlman, steps down in the wake of the party's mid-term election losses, CNN reported today.

Republican sources told CNN that the U.S. Senate's first Cuban-American senator will take over the Republican Party chairmanship as the party seeks to regroup following the Democratic takeover of both the Senate and House.

It was unclear whether Martinez would retain his Florida Senate seat.

Under President Bush Republicans have sought to make headway among Hispanic voters.

Okay guys, I heard it with my own little ears. MEL MARTINEZ - and it was pointed out how happy the White House was. Haven't seen anything else however after Breaking News.

Well, I tried to be fair and balanced about this.

I should know better whenever there's a Bush involved.

CNN is reporting it and NRO is picking it up. I already called the RNC and complained about choosing a proamnesty as head because neither Republicans and Democrats want it and I'd never give them another cent. Also, said they should look at those who didn't vote and they would probably find their proamnesty view the reason. Also emailed my comments.

I called the RNC also and left a message and then called the Tennessee Chapter to express displeasure with this choice.

    O....M....G!

This is such a HUGE blow. More proof that this has all been pre-scripted with both parties working in tandem. God help us all.

Just as icing on the cake, he's a multimillionaire trial lawyer as well. I guess tort reform is no longer on the table.

What party is this supposed to be again? I'm confused.
