Mexican National shot after trying to run down Deputy

Man wounded by deputy released from hospital, taken into custody
    ARIZONA DAILY STAR
A man who authorities said was shot as he tried to run down a sheriff’s deputy has been released from the hospital and booked into the Pima County Jail.

Apolinar Vasquez-Martinez, 36, was being treated at University Medical Center for two gunshot wounds to the left shoulder area, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman, on Friday.

He was released from UMC on Thursday and taken to jail on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer and felony fleeing, she said. He is being held on $2,500 bond.

According to Barkman, Vasquez-Martinez is not a U.S. citizen, but she did not know where he was from.

The officer-involved shooting occurred Tuesday morning on the Northwest Side when Deputy Bruce Haufe pulled over Vasquez-Martinez who was driving a Ford F-150 with no license plate, Barkman said.

As Haufe asked for Vasquez-Martinez’s identification, he drove off, she said.

He made a U-turn and drove toward Haufe, at which point Haufe fired several rounds, hitting the truck and Vasquez-Martinez.

Vasquez-Martinez drove away. About two miles away he ran from the truck and was caught by arriving officers.

$2500 bond for an illegal alien who tried to run over a law enforcement officer is ridiculous.

The creep and his family will probably sue the county, US, now because he was shot.
