Mexican woman trying to sneak into U.S. found behind car dashboard at California border

A woman from Mexico attempting to sneak into the United States was found behind the dashboard of a car according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).


According to the CBP, the incident took place just after midnight on Monday at the downtown Calexico, California port of entry. CBP says a 30-year-old U.S. citizen driving a 2010 Chevy Aveo was screened by a CBP canine team when the human and narcotics canine alerted to something inside the vehicle.

The officers escorted the man and vehicle to an inspection lot where they discovered the 43-year-old Mexican citizen in the dashboard. Officers extracted the woman and emergency medical responders assessed the woman. The CBP says she had no legal ability to enter the country and took her into custody.


The driver was arrested and taken to a local jail on federal human smuggling charges. Last month, CBP reports a similar incident took place when officers found a 57-year-old man laying horizontally inside the frame of a dashboard.
