MS-13 member sentenced to life for killing rival gang member
By the Associated Press
December 16, 2005
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- A member of the street gang MS-13 was sentenced to life in prison Friday for murdering a rival gang member.
Alirio Reyes, 27, of Herndon, pleaded guilty in September to murder in aid of racketeering activity for his role in the death of 17-year-old Jose Sandoval.
Reyes and another MS-13 member, Osmin Alfaro-Fuentes, approached Sandoval and a 16-year-old female on a Herndon street on May 16, 2004 and asked if they were rival gang members. When Sandoval said he was a member of the 18 Street gang, Reyes shot both of them, killing Sandoval and seriously injuring the girl.
After the shooting, Reyes and Alfaro-Fuentes fled to Los Angeles, where they were arrested in June by members of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
Reyes pleaded guilty on the third day of his trial, saying he shot the teens to increase his status in MS-13.
Alfaro-Fuentes, 27, was sentenced earlier this month to life in prison for his role in the murder.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

MS-13 Gang Member Goes To Jail For Life
Gang Member Sentenced For Gang-Related Killing

UPDATED: 4:00 pm EST December 16, 2005
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- A member of the MS-13 gang was sentenced to life in prison as punishment for killing a teen in a rival gang.
Federal prosecutors said Alirio Reyes and a friend confronted two teens on a Herndon street in May of last year and demanded to know if they were in another gang.
One of them admitted being in the 18th Street gang. Then Reyes shot both teens.
A 17-year-old boy was killed and a 16-year-old girl was wounded in the incident.
Neither one knew Reyes or his friend, both of whom fled to Los Angeles, where they were caught a month later.
Three days into his trial, Reyes pleaded guilty to a charge of murder in aid of racketeering activity.
He admitted that MS-13 rules required him to kill the rival gang member -- something that would also improve his status within the gang.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
