Man eludes Border Patrol checkpoint, leads officers on high-speed chase

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - The Dona Ana County Sheriff's Special Response Team is looking for a man who allegedly tried to elude a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.

Deputies say the man is reportedly armed and driving a black car.
A high-speed pursuit began around 5 p.m. Tuesday night.

He was last seen in Hatch where he reportedly abandoned his car.

Roadblocks have been set up while state troopers, Border Patrol agents and Hatch police officers work together to find the suspect.

Residents are asked to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity to 911.
