Thread: N.M. police chief, mayor, trustee caught in federal sweep

Every community needs a solid checks and balance administration. Our state mandates that each community have a staff of police commissioners who are watchdogs to make sure that the police department and its officers are upholding th elaw, enforcing the laws and are setting the highest of standards possable for the protection of the community. I am one of those commissioners and I take this position very seriously. Commissioners are hired and assigned by city council and not by the police department. Unfortunatly as in any government, money and community pressures can and often corrupt even the best of some administrations. The people need to take their job of electing honest and community minded officials and that includes sheriffs. We need to toss out the good ol boy mentality and to have officials that will reject the corrupt money, reject community leaders who propose granting amnisty or rights to illegals., reject the operation and establishment of illegal businesses within the community. We need to push good honest people to take up positions of authority to take a stand, make the tough decisions, and if need be remove those who are found to be corrupt by cartels, gangs, and community activits. I for one am glad the feds were able to round up these individuals. In talking to locals in that community it was a well known fact they were corrupt yet little was done. This needs to stop. Just as illegals and latinos are protesting the immigration crackdown...we the LEGAL citizens need to take up the banners of justice, demand that laws be enforced and demand that officials that are corrupt be removed. We need to be evenmore vocal than those who seek to undermine our nation.

I agree 100% to all of your statements.

Also people of Law Enforcement retired/Criminal Justice and Law students can play a great role in help keeping our Communities safer from criminal activities. These people know how to detect crime and should never allow anyone to cease them from playing an activity role in curbing crime. Be Vigilant, keep notes, dates, time and pictures if possible of criminal actions. But, also use caution when reporting such information because you never know when you are approaching the wrong person with criminal information!!!

Things are getting bad out there people, whether some of us wants to admit it or not, the truth is what really matters.

All your supports and feeling sorry for illegal aliens must stop, you people have no idea of what fire you are playing with, and you are assisting with problems this Country is currently deeply affected with. I wish I could share with you more about the people you are protecting but, it is prohibiting for me to do so. Your family, friends or associates could possibly fall victim to an undocumented alien crime, because anything is possibly when dealing with those people. Protect yourselves and be safe people.
