Thank you, SusanSmithNAG. The best thing to happen is the Nebraska voters realizing the legislature is creating a situation where they (the voters) will all have to be fluent in Spanish very soon just to get by in everyday life, as the majority of illegals are Hispanics these days.
Do you get the feeling that it is the major businesses needing cheap illegal labor for profit and are pushing the politicos by dangling large campaign contributions?

Hi Vortex - There is pressure from so many places... the Chamber of Commerce, the Unions, Churches, Community Organizations, Education and Health Communities, the politicians. There is just no end.

Business Owners: they can pay the Illegal Aliens low wages, work them overtime - possibly cheating them out of pay, working conditions can fall below standards and they know the Illegal Aliens will not complain. Some employers (as in the AgriProcessors in IA) are housing them in trailers, charging them rent, food, utilities, etc.

The Churches are happy to have them fill their collection plates and bring up church membership.

Community Organzations, Healthcare and the Education systems: I think their angle is keeping matching funds coming in from the state and federal levels. and I think the overal "Open borders/socialist" agenda is in play here.

In either case, the middle class is gettting stuck with the tab and when the middle class falls there will be what.....the very, very rich and the very, very poor - just about like every other country. Although the government may be looking at 30m Illegal Aliens as dollar signs. If Amnesty were passed and 30m Illegal Aliens are given legitimate Social Security Numbers and started paying taxes....think of the revenue that would generate for the government.

You're right about Nebraskans learning to speak spanish - South Omaha and 33rd & Leavenworth already have traffic signs up in Spanish - some of the schools have signs on their fences or Marquees in Spanish. A Spanish teacher where my sister works supposedly doesn't speak English - now how is she supposed to be teaching English if she can't speak it? AND while I was visiting my nephews 1st grade class I noticed the Spanish teacher was only speaking in Spanish to "her" students - ?!? And check this out - Nebraska's Official Language is English.

Insane! Why on earth would people put up with that there!?! I had NO idea it was that bad. I live in San Diego county and we don't even have that here!!!!!!!

I would make such a stink about this. People in the mid west and northern states have got to wake up from their beauty rest and get on the horn about this!

NoBueno - What happened is Nebraskans were asleep at the wheel - we weren't paying attention and the media kept a tight lid on Illegal Alien activity and until 2006 when Illegal Aliens and their supporters marched in our streets across our country - most of of didn't even know we had a problem.

By then, the ultra liberals had their hooks into our educational system, healthcare, community organizations and our legislature.

When we started out in 2006, the hostility and name calling of Racist, hatemonger, the noisy people, by our politicians was astounding. We have been police escorted out of immigration "discussions" "summits" and not for anything violent, that was for asking questions in opposition of their views and agenda.

It doesn't sound like it but we have made a difference - it would be super if some of the other organizations in this state would support our efforts.

Your a great patriot Susan. What has happened in Nebraska is akin to what's happening across the rest of this country. The invaders move in and not a word is said. Media will not report on it and local police agencies ignore it. When the good citizens do realize what is happening, the invaders have already established a strong hold on that community or state, complete with their own pandering politicians in their back pocket to promote the invasion. When good Americans object, they are called racists, xenophobes and nativists!

It's the same story, just a different state. Illegal invaders are like cancer in the initial stages. Usually symptom free, they continue to invade and cause havoc on local communities. When the symptoms start to appear, the invaders have already matastisized and have created a situation that is most dire throughout the entire state, with the only cure being absolute enforcement.

This is where our elected officals are failing us. They have the cure available and can administer it by simply enforcing immigration law. Instead, we get treasonous politicians who are more interested in passing legislation to give invaders health care or in-state tuition, or even declaring their city to be an official sanctuary for invaders.

It's political malpratice and it should be a chargeable offense.

IN NOVEMBER 2010 AND IN 2012 WE HAVE TO REMOVE FROM OFFICE ALL THOSE POLITICIANS WHO HELP ILLEGAL ALIENS. PERIOD.

I'm grateful to all of the brave Americans across this country who take a stand against the enormous anti-American wave. How many more would speak out if they weren't afraid of losing their jobs?

The Illegal Alien's South Omaha community has been allowed to thrive because we've had several Sanctuary City Mayors elected (including the current one)....AND DO YOU KNOW WHY....because registered voters in N.W. Omaha were either too busy, too stupid or too lazy to go vote!

That's the phrase I put on signs and stood at 72nd & Dodge (which is the busiest intersection in Omaha) - I just hope it ticked them off and woke them up.

The thing about this article that is so unnerving is reading that the Nebraska State Legislature is working hard. They are hustling. They are scrambling. They are pulling out all stops, and kicking in all of the afterburners. But it isn't to the benefit of the Nebraska taxpayers. In fact, there is no advantage whatsoever in passing a bill like this. It benefits illegals in every way, and benefits Americans in no way.

Why should Nebraskans pay their individual State Legislators a good salary, when these public officials are just going to work against the voters who elected them to their lofty positions?
