Why are they scrambling to do anything other than arrest and deport?

The business lobby who demand slave labor and exploitation would rather pay the legislators bigger sums of money to keep the invaders here, rather than pay that money to our own citizens in the form of decent wages. The legislators actually cost them more than realistic wages for Americans.

The illegals don't buy their products anyway, they send their money back to their own countries, and are destroying the fabric and culture of our entire society.

They are extremely shortsighted and don't see the endpoint down the road, their greed demands instant profits now. The builders and developers caused untold havoc by hiring illegals to build crummy houses and now no one has the money to buy them. How many landscapers do you think we will need when most families can barely pay for food and utilities?

We need an improved path to recall these idiots.

GA - You're right, an easier path to get them out of office. Unfortunately, our legislators (just like in congress) have passed bills that make it almost impossible to remove them. In Nebraska we there has to be two senators willing to submit the paperwork to get the ball rolling and it's very hard to get them to turn on their own. And, they have been trying to get the same type of terms set for the Mayors in Nebraska too.

    Response from a NE Senator

Shown below is a response by Sen Gwen Howard who is also on the Health & Human Services Committee 402-471-2723 ghoward@leg.ne.gov

See the pro Illegal Alien mentality we are up against?

Thank you for contacting me concerning the decision by the Department of Health and Human Services to deny pre-natal coverage to several thousand women.

I absolutely disagree with this decision to deny coverage whether the mother is an undocumented person or not. The reality is the baby will be a citizen of this country when it is born in the United States and thus would be eligible for Medicaid upon birth. It makes no sense to deny pre-natal care that could prevent very expensive conditions after the child is born. These medical expenses, which in many cases are preventable with pre-natal care, will fall more often than not on Nebraska taxpayers.

It is my hope that the Governor will find a resolution to this situation that allows pre-natal care to continue. Senator Campbell has introduced legislation to address this situation which may be consideered by the Legislature if the Governor does not find a resolution.

I appreciate your taking the time to write.

    Sincerely,

    Gwen Howard
    State Senator

Correct me if I am wrong but since Medicaid is partly state funded why cannot the state deny anchor babies state citizenship and thus also deny them medicaid? That is what we are trying to do in California through a ballot initiative.

Bowman - Why should we have to keep passing laws when we already have laws on the books that make this type of behavior illegal? Shown below is the letter we sent out requesting the Illegal Aliens be deported:

    Kathie Osterman, Administrator
    Health & Human Services Dept.
    of Nebraska
    315 Centennial Mall South
    Lincoln, Ne 68509

RE: Providing Illegal Alien pregnant women with prenatal care.

    Dear Ms. Osterman:

We appreciate the fact that HHS complied with the recent request by the federal government to bring Nebraska in compliance with federal law. However, many Nebraskans are not only worried about the breaking of federal immigration law 8 U.S.C. 1324 of aiding, abetting, inducing, encouraging, transporting or harboring of Illegal Aliens but also the cost to taxpayers and the depletion of resources.

We are requesting HHS turn the names and addresses of these approximately 1,000 Illegal Alien women to the United States Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) the toll free number is 866-347-2423. The Sheriff's Dept./State Patrol maybe able to assist you in getting this ball rolling as well.

We hope you will also be able to provide us with some answers to the questions below:

    1. How long have Illegal Alien pregnant women been receiving taxpaid prenatal care?
    (a) What is the total cost associated for this time period?
    (b) Who was responsible for approving this policy?

    2. Is Foodstamps part of the prenatal care benefit package?
    (a) If yes, how much in dollars are the Illegal Alien women given per month?

    3. What is the exact number of Illegal Alien pregnant women currently receiving prenatal care?

    4. Did you or anyone in your department, prior to Federal notification, know that HHS was not in compliance with federal laws?
    (a) Did any HHS employee(s) report or complain that this policy was in non-compliance of federal laws?
    (b) What action was taken in response to HHS employee(s)

    5. Did HHS at any time report the 1,000 Illegal Aliens names and addresses to the U.S. ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) or any other law enforcement authority?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

cc: Governor Heineman 402-471-2244 dave.heineman@nebraska.gov "Want the 1,000 Illegal Alien Women Deported"

That's a good point, the problem we have here in CA is all the anchor babies the illegals have already had which are citizens, it makes their parents harder to deport. Maybe you don't have that problem in Nebraska so if you can more easily deport them all more power to you and good luck!!

If it helps your case you could always point out that the citizens of some states (California, Arizona, Texas) are seeking to end birthright citizenship for illegal alien babies since the 14th Amendment framers never intended to give birthright citizenship to children not under the "complete jurisdiction of the United States".

It might be good to see what Nebraska's budget shortfall has been and is with this pre-natal care policy in place. How much is spent annually with the care and later with payments to the family of the little illegals/citizens.
Nothing makes a better point with voters than looking where their hard-earned tax dollars are going.
It is long past time the U.S. Supreme Court should have ruled on this, but with the likes of Sotomayor, I fear illegals will get more than they get now (racial discrimination, perhaps?)

All really good suggestions - it's the senators who are forcing this garbage through and it doesn't help that a lot of citizens don't bother to show up to vote and that's how a lot of these yahoos keep getting re-elected. It would be great if CA AZ & TX get a ruling on the 14th Amendment - a federal judge in MO - Judge Webber ruled that Illegal Aliens did not fall under the equal protection amenment. I appreciate the help everyone is giving us - Other than opening a complaint with ICE and then contacting the Ne State Auditor to launch an investigation for abuse, waste & mismanagement of funds - (shown below) I don't know what else we can do.

    Mike Foley, Ne State Auditor

    Dear Mr. Foley:

I'm requesting you investigate the Department of Health & Human Services for providing, by policy, prenatal care and other benefits to approximately 1,000 Illegal Alien women who currently live in Nebraska. Local news articles indicate that this "policy" has been in play for decades.

Recently the federal government sent a notice to NE HHS informing them NE was NOT IN COMPLIANCE with federal law by allowing prenatal care to Illegal Aliens. HHS then sent out a termination of services notice - Effective March 1, 2010.

Guess I haven't been paying attention, if they don't fall under the equal protection clause, they should not fall under the birthright citizenship clause either, since they are both in the same 14th Amendment!

Typical government idiocracy. If giving illegals prenatal care is against the law, why do the feds then turn around and give their babies citizenship?
